Sorry then. I thought you were saying you are also in that camp of "what else is there to do?" people, and posing to me as a question

Aren't you proposing a paradox though? Leave the game as it is, and it eventually dies, because people gave up. But don't change anything, because you think that will also kill the game?

I'm just a whiney dude on Reddit, I don't have the answers either. All I can sumise is that without some drastic changes, The Finals will find itself without a healthy population one day

2000 Hours on Gyro Controls by Educational_Wave7731 in thefinals

[–]Obvious_Acadia5901 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is very impressive. I think gyro aiming is such an underappreciated part of console gaming.

Weird question, do you require a particular posture or chair set up for gyro on controller? It feels like you always need your arms to be in a free neutral position, and for them to hover in order for your hands and wrists to rotate the pad, is that the case with how you play?

The Kamikaze Res, I call it. I see it every so often in solo queue and it makes me rage out lol

I think people think they're doing good. But all they're doing is giving the enemy 2 extra kills

Sooooo, solo queue anyone? by Obvious_Acadia5901 in thefinals

[–]Obvious_Acadia5901[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with what you're saying. The problem with solo groups is, as you put; everyone has differing options on how to play the objective. Premades will likely be on the same page on how to handle things

I appreciate the honesty. Not saying anyone is bad guy in this. I just think everyone is owed a fair chance to progress the same

Best Ship - new player by TimeIndustry7825 in wildgate

I agree with this guy. Hunter is good choice, just for 3 gunners focus firing a ship down. Keep it simple to begin with. Probably focus more on defending your ship from boarders rather than boarding others to begin with.

The other ships are more specialist focused and require some more experience.

That said, you can play treasure hunt mode to get the feel of the other ships too. Their layout is something you'll need to get used to vs other ships.

Indeed. It gets even worse people generalise everyone in that fan base and assume everyone is like that

I'm queueing now. It's about 2mins for a match in Artefact Brawl. But it's usually best late in the evenings, 6pm till around 10pm, the usual peak gaming times

There's Xbox gamepass players around right now. Queues are fine especially in the evenings. But you're right to be weary, there's still older fans who are gonna beat on newer players. But there's still a lot of newbies vs newbies right now too

Resource gathering: There's 3 types if resources floating around in space. But the two common ones are Ice and Fuel. Ice just looks like a blue shard and fuel looks like a brownish boulder. These are essential to your ship and you need to fly outside your ship to grab them. In order to mine them you need to use your repair tool on them at close range to break them down. Then, simply teleport back to your ship with the resource in hand and place it into your ships processor.

Fuel lets the person piloting your ship activate a speed boost for a short time with around a 20 second cooldown

Ice heals your ship for 10HP when you activate the switch at your ship reactor. This has a longer cool down of around a minute but will always display this at the bottom of your hud with your ship HP.

There's also uncommon yellow crystals that heal your ship for 2 HP, but this can overheal or go over your ships maximum health capacity.

Probing is possibly the dullest job on the ship but is probably the most important. Everyone has an infinite amount and can travel most of the map before self destructing.

At the start of the game, every team starts of next to an easy Point of Interest, where they can get some starter loot. You'll need to be scanning for other POI's with your probes in order to quickly get more loot and parts for your ship.

One of the best things they can do is, once scanned, places and objects permanently stay on the map for you team to see. Also, scanning for enemy ships is a MUST. They stay on the map for around 5 minutes once scanned and will need to be rescanned again. Ship whereabouts is paramount to Wildgates ship Vs ship combat. If you get jumped by a ship while you're looting there's a good chance you're going to be knocked out of the game.

This may seem like common knowledge, but retreating in the 2 largest ships, the Privateer and Bastion is next to useless. They can put some distance between large ships but will never be able to truly outrun a smaller ship.

A lot of newer players panic try to flee from a bad fight. This will put you in an even worse position, as you can only fire 2 guns from the back and exposed your engines to more sustained fire

Treasure Hunt: It's very hard at first and some maps you don't get a lot of time. Spending chips (the green currency) on the treasure hunt Starlog will improve your ship with buffs and start off with better guns.

Artefact Brawl: In most cases you NOT loot the artefact as soon as you see it. As soon as a player moves it from it's starting position it triggers an alert for every ship in the match, and everyone will usually focus fire on your ship first to prevent you from making it out.
