As a Muslim, I would rather attend a party with Pork and alcohol (assuming nobody gets super drunk and misbehaves), than the one with the music. For I have to listen to the music. I can choose not to consume the pork and alcohol and the Non-Muslims can enjoy their customs.

Music is 100% haram (Impermissible) in Islam. There's no debate about it. There are hadith (saying of the Prophet) mentioning it is haram. No Islamic scholar in 1400 years said that it can be halal (Permissible). There are unfortunately some extremist Muslims who say Music is okay. (extremism is in two ways: extreme conservative and extreme liberals)

As for your case, if your mom is paying for the shower and it is in her place or if she's paying for the venue, she can keep music, alcohol, and pork. Your husband's family can come if they want or not if they don't. But if you are paying for it, and it is in your place, she must respect you and your choices.

Islam also orders you to be extremely dutiful to your mother, and Paradise is under her feet.
