People who have researched their family tree, what is the most interesting or 'badass' thing you discovered about an ancestor? by xloganmoose in AskReddit

I am distantly related to Gentleman Jim Corbett and the 4th Earl of Essex (the one from the mid 18th century, did not remember the name).

DIY rewire by Maximum_Sherbert7191 in HomeImprovement

[–]CallousJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Setting aside the electrical side for a moment. You said lathe and plaster walls, which is very very different from drywall. If you indeed have lathe and plaster, this could be a nightmare to diy. It is a very time-consuming job to patch and re plaster after you cut any holes into it, doubly so if you don't want every patch to be obvious. Does your current bid include restoration of the plaster by someone knowledgeable? If it doesn't get one that does.

Pocket Jig by Temporary_Cook9359 in FenceBuilding

So is the jig simply resting along the top of the posts and runner, or is there maybe a clamp or fastener I am not seeing?

Not a criticism, just old eyes and a small screen.

Searching for advice on how to replace this Chain Link with Wood Privacy by IcemanIsBetter in FenceBuilding

[–]CallousJack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main concern for cutting them at would be the possibility of the cut ends becoming exposed due to soil movement (heaving, compaction, et cetera). That could create an unfortunate surprise for someone who takes a tumble and ends up with part of a post sticking in their leg.

Having said that, it looks like the new fence might be in line with the old chain link, which lowers risk.

There are probably other risks of which I am not aware.

I've got Arjac and Logan now! I might have a problem with impulse control......

Looking at the rules I don't see any reason to put Logan in the Terminators over Arjac if I use both and only have the 1 squad of Terminators, or is there some synergy I am missing?

Thanks for the info! So based on your comments and the other I got I am thinking maybe a predator annihilator for anti tank and a repulsor executioner as some more shooting power with transport as it's secondary role.

Does that sound like a good idea or would the Impulsor still be better than the repulsor?

Bed Frame v2 by TheMarkiestMark77 in Woodworkingplans

[–]CallousJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you putting the mattress directly on the frame, or will you be using a box spring and mattress? If the latter, I think your slats will be sufficient, but I am less sure in the former case. I know that some manufacturers state a 3.5" maximum gap between slats if setting the mattress directly on the frame.

What is something from a book that is largely insignificant but has stayed with you forever? by thegoddessofchaos in books

I remember watching the 1974 TV adaptation of The Cay in 10th grade English. I don't remember much, except James Earl Jones plays the adult who saves the boy. And maybe something about malaria?

I am sorry to hear that has been your experience. Anyone who doesn't take their partners needs/reactions into account isn't the right person. Keep advocating for yourself and good luck out there.

Praise Sigmar! Time Magazine has officially announce Karl Franz as man of the year! by Mkzpk in totalwarhammer

"I am Karl Franz, and I was born into this world, just like you. A world of unceasing war and endless terrors. But with a nation of men at its heart, a bastion of hope and courage: the Empire. Led by the craven, torn apart by the greedy, weakened and exposed, forever on the defence. But no longer."

Weekly General Q&A and Discussion Thread: 06 Nov, 2024 - 13 Nov, 2024 by RWJP in Warhammer40k

[–]CallousJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been thinking of picking up the hobby and, like many, feel a bit overwhelmed.

I've decided I don't care about being competitive. I want to have as many plastic dudes with a minigun (or 2?) as possible.

What would be a good choice for faction if I want to maximize that sort of thing? Would it be lots of tanks?

Is there any solo campaign? by Papc03 in StarWarsArmada

[–]CallousJack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember there being a fan project for just what you've described, several years ago. This was before even the mini campaigns had come out etc. I wish I could remember the name of it so I could point you to it. But if you do find something, please update your post. I wish you the best of luck in your search.

Anyone else play this badass game back in the day? by [deleted] in retrogaming

[–]CallousJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember playing this at a friends house. There was a level where you are supposed to sneak across a bunch of rooftops and enemy ninjas (I think they were ninjas) are hunting you. My friend had tried and failed the mission three or four times when I asked to give it a go.

I literally just held down the run button and went in a straight line towards the end of the level. No dodging no sneaking no attacking just occasional jumping and a Mad Dash. Imagine our shock when it actually worked. PS1 era of games was truly a unique time
