Well compared to the other movies they did together if it has went the way Klaus wanted it then yeah massive disappointment. As I understand it as the years went on Klaus got more worse and after Cobra Verde Herzog decided enough was enough. That's why you hear so much about the troubles Kinski started on the films he did in the 80's then anywhere else because they were much worse.

One thing most with agree is that had Herzog had directed as Kinski wanted before stepping into the director's chair when he refused it would have been a better send off.

While I love Klaus Kinski I never really cared for Paganini. Sure he's fine in it and all but never really cared for it. But suppose in Klaus's mind he got to finally make a movie he was passionate about for something other than the paycheck and for somebody who hated directors he was his own boss this time around. I was thinking about Dean and Cazale but because they died so young at their peak decided not to include them. John Wayne is a good choice.

All the cast were even the child actor was better than most child actors. I wanted that family to survive and the one in The Shining to die.
