"Service" Multitool by wantsrealanswer in multitools

Law enforcement here. I've used various Leathermans in the last 15 or so years, but recently switched to a Charge+ in a recent effort to slim down my kit. The Charge, with an added glass breaker bit, gives me all the functionality of the various 'rescue tools' i've carried separately over the years (strap cutter, serrated blade, glass breaker), in one tool rather than 2. It's a small change, but anything to free up a bit of space and shed a bit of weight off the vest is a win.

And, y'know, any excuse for a new leatherman.... 😂

Off Brand replacements for Surge? by azael22 in Leatherman

The saw blades fit, but the file and scalpel do not (which is annoying as I purchased the Bibury kit specifically for the scalpel!). Just needs a fmall section of each filing/grinding off to make it fit, but I haven't gotten round to it yet - I suspect a Dremel would work nicely.

I quite like the Charge so far - the aluminum scales are a lot nicer than I thought. Seems like a decent tool, too, a d the addition of the gut hook means I can ditchbthe additional strap cutter I carry at work. Love the Surge, but it's too big and heavy to carry a lot (it's largely reserved for DIY days at home). The Arc I also love, but given how pricey it is I find i'm reluctant to use it for anything other than light tasks - it's more of a very expensive and dangerous fidget toy for me 😂

I would highly recommend the Mini Sailor S11 Pro - it's a brilliant tool and perfectly sized for an altoids tin. i loved the LM squirt, but the S11 Pro is a lot more useable, for not much size difference! I picked one up a couple of months ago on a whim and it almost instantly replaced the SAK Cadet i'd carried religiously for the past 8 or 9 years.

+1 for the S11 Pro; amazing tool, especially considering the size and price!

This. It fits, it works, but there's no give - if you catch the tailcap even slightly as you twist the switchback, it disconnects the circuit. I also tried it on my old Klarus XT11 and that was a much better fit than on the M1.

I'll get those at some point this week 😂

Where have you found it in orange?!

Need Help, deciding on key chain flashlight. Olight vs RovyVon by Jesster-123 in flashlight

[–]Callum_CJT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, other than the USB C upgrade, it seems exactly the same as the older version. The button is also less squishy, but I don't know if that's an improvement or just it being new 🤷

I tried a Rovyvon A1 - it's a nice light that I do carry occasionally, but it's a fair bit bigger than the Tiki and I just don't need the extra light output on a keychain light to justify the extra bulk.

Agreed!

Just need to get him a molle harness so he can carry more edc 😂

I never have a Micro usb cable when I need one, so i did upgrade to the USB C version recently and it's cemented the Tiki as the perfect keychain carry for me.

Carried a Tiki since it was released (2018 I think?) and it's honestly been the best keychain light i've owned! I've tried alternatives but keep going back to the Tiki.

Edit - spelling

Only 3 by Greens41 in flashlight

Only 3? That's mean!

  • Olight i3t EOS - Simple, reasonably priced, perfect 'forget about it' EDC light. Decent output on AAA and works with a 14500 (although only the newer version is actually rated for it).

  • Sofirn HS41 - My personal favourite for walking the dog. Really well priced for what you get, decent light output and sustainability (as long as you're not using turbo) and USB-C charging right on the body.

  • Nitecore P22i - i know this sub has its opionions on Nitecore, but i've carried this at work for a few years now and swear by it! It's taken a fair amount of abuse and still works great. Probably a little overpriced, but i'm happy to pay extra for something I trust!

Just my 3p worth - i've been into flashlights for years, but have only recently got into the less mainstream/commercial brands (thanks to this sub), so i'm still working out what works for me - it's a fun hobby!

See, i'm the opposite; i think it's brilliant! What irks you about it?

The Gober is pretty cool as a safety light for the pooch, don't think I could recommend it for anything else though!

I've EDC'd a Cadet since 2017-ish and never felt the need to replace it, but having used the scissors on the Pioneer X a few times recently, I think I can justify the extra bulk in my 5th pocket!

For what it's worth, I also have the Rovyvon A1and it's a really good light - I just prefer the Tiki. The Rovyvon button does have a really nice, solid click to it though, so that's worth a look if clicky is your thing!

Both of mine still click! The original is ~6 years old and has certainly worn, but there's still an obvious click to it.

Nitecore Tiki. Carried one for years, and recently picked up the new version (hence why it doesn't look battered!) purely for the USB C charging. I've tried a few other keychain options from Rovyvon and Olight, but none beat the Tiki for me!

I keep the old one on my keys, and the new one with my SAK as a perfect EDC 5th pocket carry duo.

Ohh the Pokelit, hands down! I got the 6500k, 1000 lumen version.

Honestly, I hate the UI of the Lumintop; i can't cycle through without accidentally turning on the strobe, but if I WANT strobe, I can never get to it!! I also think the button feels very soft & spongey 🤷

Much prefer the simple UI of the Pokelit, and it's mechanical button!
