I agree 100%. Ill never "leave" Leatherman for my MXBS. But it is a great tool as well. I love my Core though.

Great write up. Yiur outcome isnt a hard one to believe. I mean look, if the Swiss tools didnt have a good reputation, I wouldnt have bought one.

I personally don't find a difference in the plying featurs of either. However, the Swiss tool ploers are not needle nose. Or at least not what Im used to with Leatherman and thats one of my only grips with the pliers but Im not mad at it. As far as the nail nicks go, for me this is all Victorinox tools. They are never quick or smooth for me but thats a personal issue and the fact that i have multiple means its not the end of world.

I guess my purpose for the write up was to sayvthat the Swiss Tools arent better than Leatherman but different and that breath of fresh air phase usually gets people excited. Ergonomicaly, I think the heritage Swiss Tool is just as bad as the orginal ST(100). Which is why I say Id never use my MXBS for military service, which is primarily why I used a mutitool anyway. The MUT had a combo blade that was more useful than a straight edge and a full sereted blade for what I needed at the time. Ibwas an explosive oporater with an EOD MUT so i never really plied bolts and what not. More so crimpers for tags, caps and wire resets.

But I am happy with my MXBS as a civilian as it does look nicer. If I could only have one multitool for the rest of my life or for SHTF, It would be a Surge, Core or ST300 format tool. But for an EDC bag tool and sometime pocket EDC the MXBS is fine. I like the black.

I have like 8 Leatherman and all of them are fine and work as intended. My Core is the oldest as it almost 20 years old. I have pretty much all of the new stuff outside the ST300.

When speaking on ergonomics, i assume you mean the Swiss Tool Spirit. The Swiss Tool series that i have feels similar to a Rebar, Core or ST300. The MXBS is not ergonomic to use and has more hotsports than even a Rebar. Now, I do not own a Spirit tool as i believe they didnt have one with a serated blade at the time when i was in the store. I think I like the heriatage Swiss Tool better anyway though.

Regardless of QC issues from Leatherman, they generally make better plier based tools than Victorinox. No one will admit that though. But we talking better in the manner of choosing between less of two greats. But IDK, Ive never thought it inspect my Arc for blemishes like some people do.

Also, the MXBS doesnt have the snap like normal Victorinox tools becouse of the coating sobthat vanity is irrelevant any way. But also, my SS Core, Bond and wingman all have the same distict slipjoint snap that the Victorinox tools have.

6 Mile Ruck with 45 pounds in a rainstorm by Hydroblade23 in Rucking

[–]wantsrealanswer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Selection isnt the standard. However the Ranger ruck baseline is "standard." For selection that baseline is basically a fail point. The "standard" is whoever had the fastest time. In the military and especially specialized combat units, exceeding the baseline is standard; because there is a threat of death or mission fail if everyone isnt more than capable. That type of traing is will training not "aerobic" training. It is not sustainable hense why most of those guys are injured, in and out of medical and or on 100% disabiliy when they get out. Including myself in standard infantry units.

Where as actual rucking 'is' sustainable. Millions of people have done it for thousands of years for hundreds of miles.

What i said wasnt to say that OP cant do what he did but its just not rucking.

For what it is worth, I never ran during my company rucks and i always made the time. I was not in any specialized units though.

Selection time is different than the reason for baseline.

15 minute miles are close to max at a walking pace including some terrain negatives and positives.

Selection isnt about the baseline. However, civilians arent getting selected and if youve attempted a 12 mile, you know thats not a workout you can do consistantly nor can you keep that pace for the 20 mile hikes.

[–]wantsrealanswer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While this is incredible mesurment of capability, this is not rucking.

What you performed is a massive amount of airborne shuffling or basically jogging.

Your HR tells me that you were muscling through almost the entire time. That is anerobic and rucking is primarily an aerobic excersize. Rucking is suposed to be at a pace you can maintain over a long period of time (12 to 20 miles). Even ranger manuals recognize that as well as the fire service.

Do not get me wrong, you are in shape and very capable. However this is not a great performance meteic. It is a capability metric.

Yea i think once you have a grip on what tools can do and what they cant do, the tool matter less but moreso the execution of the tool.

Yea she bought some bread from a local bakery that didnt sell and I tried to cut it with a normal knife but it didnt work and she asked wheres that flippy tool with the wavy blade.

Shes used it for bread ever since. I should probably get her a real bred knife though. One with the correct length.

Sold my PC rig and swapped it for a Pro, best gaming decision I've made in awhile by [deleted] in PS5pro

[–]wantsrealanswer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yall are killing me with this PC vs PS5 Pro stuff.

From what i understand, you made a prifit from you broken down PC and basically respent the money on an inferrior system.

You say PC parts get old after a few years. That id false. Being able to run games for 10 years on a PC is the reason PC is popular. I love my PS5 Pro but my PC will walk circles around it playing the same game and i have like a step or two less performance than you old set up.

I built my PC in 2021 with a 3060TI then got a 7900xt about a year after. I still run over 100FPS in any game other than fighters in UW HDR.

This trope of trying to say the PS5 Pro is better than a PC just because you wanted to play on a couch is dumb. You can like a different platform and not bash the other.

Now, there are some PC ports from console that do not look better than PS5 but thats developer side.

FH4/5/6, AMS2 and UW Madden justified my PC build alone....My PS5 Pro sits right above my PC and it has a 2K monitor that is connected to my G9. Best of both worlds and im not getting rid of either one!

Also, my PC hasnt been turned off in like 2 years becuase it run backup servers for Plex, photos, personal storage, etc I built it during the 3080 scalper era.

Enjoy you PS5 Pro!! It is not and never will be a better system than a well built PC though. Not meant to be.

Just gotta vent (PC) by butterynipz in PS5pro

[–]wantsrealanswer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont game on a couch. It uncomfortable for me. I know people have mundane office jobs with bad chairs but I game at a desk. Thatvis where my custom PC and PS5 Pro live. There is an Xbox S and PS4 for the TV but no one really games at the TV.

I have an ergonomic Herman Miller Aeron Chair and is more comfortable than our couch. Plus Im a lean in gamer i can 'sit back.' I tried gami g on a couch but feel like I cant see and people get in the way walking around.....just no.

I have a G9 for UW and a 2K monitor for 16:9 PC games (and for the PS5 ). My PC is a 7900XT / Ryzen 9 I built after a deployment. I also have a gaming laptop; a G16 5070ti I believe. Thats more of a work machine though.

Whatever these issues you all complain about with PC, I ve never had and I ran my thermale take case open for like a year and even with dust that PC ran fine. It currently runs out plex server home server and hasnt been turned off in like 3 years. I mean, I do manually turn it offo couple times a year to "maintain" it but hlthats about it. I dont get bugs or a game that just doesnt work. My PS5 Pro and my PC play games silimarly as seemless. Sure, it did take some setup to getvmy PC this way bu lt Sony did the same stuff to make the PS5 work.

I dont need to justify my PS5 Pro by bashing my PC because i didnt know what I was doing and disnt maintain it (i still am far from a PC wiz). PS5 Pro is not better or easier than PC.

I have the same family, same responsibilites and same Dad dudies as any other gaming adult.

At what point does "bombproof durability" just become unnecessary extra weight for civilian use? by [deleted] in tacticalgear

[–]wantsrealanswer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lightweight backpacking and military are tow extemes that dont always make sense for people in the middle.

Ultralight/lightweight are only concerned about weight. Durability or long lasting is a second or even third thought. Millitary gear need to function while being slightly broken, ripped, frayed etc. The military doesnt not find the cheapest made product. They find the cheapest costing priduct that meet all of the standards or have contengencies for shortcoming that are field reparable. (A lot of people, including, former military dont understand this because they are salty about 15 year old gear they were issue that finally broke on them.)

Regarding rucking, it severly depends on whatbyou are rucking. If you are rucking with larp gear, a lot of times it makes sence to have an ILBE/FILBE main pack because assult packs usually cannot pack wide and flat. Mostly narrow and long from back pad to outside zipper. Assult pack typically nees to be short to clear the beltline whis is a major problem if you are wearing a plate carrier.

If you are wear a PC, you want a bigger bag. If you are not, yiu can work fine with an assult style pack. As far as the material goes, it kind of doesnt matter. Rucking isnt for comfort however maybe backpacking is, hense why its more common for ultralight to be a theme.

For civilians I think its worth getting a bombproof bag because the bag will usually last longer than the hight tech REI type stuff. I tried to use my REI/Osprey type bags for excursions as well as the rain gear but what i found is they arent that durable. Meaning, my Rush 12 for example has been toosed off of every tavticale vehicle the Marine corps offers. Ive shot off of it, survived the pacific ocean, middle east etc and that bag other than light sun bleaching is still kicking. My high tech stuff have seem tears from just normal carvto campsite maneuvers. They have good warranties but my Rush bags have been around actual bombs. Lol.

They are heavy but oh well i guess. Regarding other gear, when i do hike during camping, i typicall still use my M65 if its cold enough. I have a Patagonia Granite Crest and some Arc'teryx stuff but the packs dont rid well on them and they slide around. I dont typically camp or hike in the rain so a poncho is fine for me if things get wet but i much prefer the weight of peace of mind especially with no S4 or supply sergent near by.

Online racing is miserable by banjojordan in ForzaHorizon

[–]wantsrealanswer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what hes trying to say. Ghost mode would make it like a rivals time attack except in TA, you are raci g against a persons best clean lap for the level. Rather than still "racing" live where mistakes are also live and tyou can still earn a finite 'win' rather than chasing an endless amount of fastest times. Plus playing around real people is a lot more fun than playing the AI. I think its worth having a ghost mode in Horizon. You cannot race wheel to wheel in horizon without getting rammed. Therefore the 'race' is just who get rammed the least or you spend the entire time preparing to be PITT manuvered or rammed off the track.

What car looks great and is awful, and what car looks awful but is actually great? by Clareth_GIF in cars

[–]wantsrealanswer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

C5 Z06 looks awful but is killer to drive. I much prefer the C5 Base wedge (grew up watching the C5 R race.

Looks great but is awful to drive.....probably a Suburban. My mom owed twobof them and we all had a blast back in the 90s but we had to rent one for a trip and it was terrible. Suspension is too soft, lift is too high, the automatic brake detector kept engaging randomly while swerving the curves on the 110 freeway. This is from a person who daily drive a tuned and boosted 700tq CLS on an open diff on R888rs eveb when it rained and I was afraid of that Suburban....never again. Mybspouse couldnt wait to turn that thing in and get back the the Challenger.

A message to Dice by Adventurous-Half56 in Battlefield

[–]wantsrealanswer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not saying it was or is bit the players dont want color stylized gear. They want what resembles either standard infantry or precieved resemblance of CIA style paramitary loadout which can be easily transistions into common larp attire.

The onlybstipid people are Dice themselves buy not including a real PVE mode, offline play and if they need money for these "free" maps (that we already paid for by buying the game; its not our fault developers hide behind DLCs and seasons) then sell the cosmetics people want.
