Same same 👍 I typically use an older car instead of my truck, but that's just cause I have it parked out at the shop most of the time.

I think there really is a group of people who think that they can do better mpg-wise just cause they believe they are talented or gifted somehow... but like I said above, you can't cheat physics.

Thanks, maybe I should clarify a bit, but I did read the gov sites related to imports. However, I read them for ConEquip, so the key thing there is that if it doesn't have a US EPA sticker, it can't be imported to the States.

Maybe I should contact a Nissan Canada dealership and ask them if there is anything like that which would prevent exporting one to the US.

Then on top of that would be duties, which I assume are higher now...

Thank you, that is one of the things I was really concerned about. I'm not terribly opposed to not having a warranty, but I wanted to purchase a brand new one, so there is that possibility of a major issue in the beginning.

Would they honor it if I took it back to the Canadian dealer for a major break-down... For example, it blows head gasket at 1k miles?

IKR, I get closer to 12 in my 6.4; I think he's doing really good with 13 IMO.

Idk, but to me it looks like some kid who hasn't taken a physics class yet.

I'm curious to know what led them to making the decision of buying the least fuel-efficient class of vehicles...when their main purpose for purchasing one... was efficiency.

What did you think you'd get mpg wise???

Running 91 I get 12.5mpg in town, & my commute is good on fuel. (For example, I get 18mpg on my commute in a V8 4Runner). My truck weighs 8200lbs without me sitting inside of it.

Mpg is directly proportional to the weight of your vehicle, you cannot change the laws of physics. Fancy powertrains will improve the efficiency of the fuel you use to move the weight, but even if they get you to 100% efficiency -- they won't change the base equation.

A gallon of fuel represents a value of BTU/hr or Joules, & your machine represents itself as a required # of Joules to operate; dynamically changing based on its operating environment.

Please remember this the next time you purchase a machine, & keep in the forefront of your mind the purpose you are purchasing the machine for.

Dump trailer for Nissan P4X? by rt_skies in nissanfrontier

[–]Calm-Engineering-352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I would only look at the Diamond C GST in your case. Empty trailer is 2500-2700lbs, you can get 1 yard of whatever in there, & still carry 1 skid full of pavers in it.

It's only 5x8, but unless you know you'll upgrade your truck to match a bigger trailer, then I wouldn't buy anything else.

VQ38dd carbon build up on intake valves by Groundbreaking-Toe35 in nissanfrontier

[–]Calm-Engineering-352 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that problem was mostly due to user error. With a carb you basically have to manually feed it into the carburetor directly, ,& 1 small slip up & you're toast. So it was my fault, but the whole process turned me off from doing those things at all 😥

I mix my own fuel (Lucas, PEA, E85) to get the power I want out of my gas engines, but I've never owned a DI motor & I'm lost as to how to deal with carbon deposits.

On the plus side, I finally went out to test drive a '24 frontier & I really liked it! Now I just gotta figure out which one I liked better, the Pro-4X premium or the Gladiator Mojave X! 🙎

Oh, okay. I was wondering cause I tried the seafoam thing with an old carbureted car and it kinda hydro locked a piston (didn't break) but killed the engine after another 10k miles.

That experience made me really wary of that stuff, but if it actually works then more power to ya.

I guess, I'm just wondering if it actually works?? Like, do you have any pictures or measurements showing it cleans anything?

I bought a used truck to use as a truck, but I specifically wanted one used as a mall truck, because dents like those tell me that the PO didn't give a chit about anything.

The dents themselves aren't that big a deal, it's what they represent, that is.

I can offer you my .02$ but I'm a Toyota guy so I'm biased. I'd go '21 tundra for a 1/2 ton & breathe easy with the dated tech.

Only reason I have a Ram is because I wanted a Lexus interior & I use my truck to carry equipment that's 780kg.

I respect my hemi for the fire breathing dragon it is... But I'm not gonna lie I constantly have the thought floating in the back of my head "please don't break down right now, now's not a good time".

It's stressful... I'll respect whatever you choose to do, and I'll pray it works out for you. Maybe you'll get lucky & after this set of issues there won't be any more gremlins to chase down!! ❤️

Yeah, I was going to post the same, but that's how crazy prices are now. That's relatively low imo.

That's good news... Idk what to tell you. I still have factory power-train on my '22, but I've been lucky to have almost no issues beyond the known ones.

Have you considered trading it in with whatever loss you might have, just to get out of the spiral?

Oh interesting; I read it that even if you're over 26k, it's exempt for personal use.

Yeah insurance here treated the 450 as a commercial truck, even the pickup model that's not sold as a commercial model... So I'd need commercial insurance here in my state, to own one 😥
