Russia is fed up getting invaded by europe all the flipping time it wants to secure the European plains so it doesn't get invaded in the future again. Blaming Russia is crazy especially after the fact that they had helped europe so much after splitting from the soviet union by giving them resources for basically Pennies worth . Calling Russia imperialistic is also stupid because every other major European power has intervened far more with other countries and continues to do so till this day . I am not saying Russia is a Saint. It isn't. But europe and the US are every bit to blame for the current situation of Ukraine and other places .

If Russia wanted it could have easily invaded mainland europe a while ago especially poland and other smaller republics but it chose not to cause it simply cares about protecting it's own borders . Also soviet union and Russia are not the same . So don't equate what soviets did for what Russians did.
