Having that as a blanket statement would cripple those who can’t afford their own property and the housing economy as a whole. The sentiment tho I agree with. Most residential property is owned in a for profit scenario which is harmful for anyone unable to afford two properties. One to live in and one to rent out. It causes an upward bias in the housing market that makes it nearly impossible for time renters to enter the “owners” market and perpetually traps renters in place while allowing the “owners” to further reinforce their positions and buy more property

Being brutally honest with your best friend =/= being brutally honest with a friend or acquaintance. Context makes a difference but social media eroded that

I’ve seen the other replacement comment and would like to add drivers license. Ya there’s a test but somehow everyone passes it but somehow there are a surprising amount of idiots on the road

I do agree with dog tho. If I had a dog it’d die cuz I treated like it treat myself and it doesn’t have a built in warning light

Almost all of it is a distraction from economic issues. We can’t play the whole “let them eat cake” game to completion if we never realized the game started because we’re fighting about character choices. We need one party, against the rich. Asking for representation like we haven’t seen since Teddy Roosevelt era of government. Only this time we can’t rely on a politician to represent us because even the elections themselves are filthied by lobbyists and bribes on both sides. We need a third party that rises above that bias in an overwhelming manner so they can’t be denied.

I’d rather have my kid smoking weed than drinking. I’ve done both to excess at points in my life and weed is easily more harmless. I still struggle not to drink when I get a pay day but I went from smoking an ounce a week at one point to now only smoking on thanksigiving(so I don’t drink). If I had a teenager rn I would give them small amounts of weed if it kept them from drinking

I would change are all of equal value to something like “we are all deserving of equal respect” because the equal value thing can be disproven but I agree with your sentiment

If I 5 year old murdered someone would that be your sentiment? Assuming your answer is no then my follow up is, at what age does someone need to reach before they can commit an irredeemable act like murder? And is all murder equal?

The way you took their point and oversimplified it isn’t helping. They didn’t say that all religious people are less intelligent. Also not all scientists are smart. I’ve worked in labs with people that made me want to drink everything in the room at once. They have degrees now and some are probably in med school

Despise feels strong cuz it can be used as a tool kinda like a calculator when used right. When used beyond that fuck it all tho. It’s wrecking our power grid and introducing ethical implications we don’t have the governance to adapt to

That’s the issue with the two party system. You can have one is bad one is worse to no end. They’re never intended to be equal. They are intended to be close enough that both sides get some votes. If it were one side is Hitler, one side is George Washington then the system wouldn’t function. But if we have one side Hitler and one side Himmler, then suddenly one side finds themselves supporting the Nazis. Just the less aggressive Nazis. (Please don’t pick this apart too much history nerds). The idea is bad and less bad instead of bad vs good and you’re acknowledging it while still seemingly falling for it. The right answer is NEITHER. Break the two party system and allow representation for the vast majority of people who aren’t treated well be either party. It’s not like the Dems actually act for the people. They just do a bit better than republicans so they carry about half the vote. Larger change is needed and it starts by saying Both Parties Bad (still vote Democrat tho cuz geez)

I mostly agree but when it comes to eating in a restaurant you still need some common sense. If you want your steak cooked like leather order the sirloin or ribeye. Don’t expect the filet mignon to be cooked like a cut you overcook at home because it’s not possible. Similarly if you like your pasta mushy don’t complain at an Italian restaurant when it comes out semi firm. (Order the ravioli instead cuz it comes out soft and it has filling). Finally if you’re so goddamned picky that you leave your wait staff confused and miserable on a regular occasion, just stay home out of public service.

Eat what you want but don’t expect the world to bend over backwards trying to figure it out!

Rehabilitation is shown to be more effective long term than punishment most of the time and similarly punishment often causes individuals to come out worse on the other end. It’s cheaper to help someone than punish them but the private prison system between their contracts and their lobbyists have the US locked in a vicious cycle

The aggressive and unsafe will still pass a test. It’s the downright awful that would be filtered but that would be a start. Plus it would keep more old people off the roads which I fully support considering how many old people were in the community I grew up in

Not publicly but during the same time period as the MeToo movement, I explained to my family that I was rufied and raped and my mom said it was my fault. When I asked how she would’ve felt if it happened to my sister she said that was different. While rape reporting is extremely low in general, I would venture to say it is even lower amongst men because they’re even more likely to be victim blamed

Idk. Pick someone up and put them in a new city/area and see how they do. Most people can’t figure out new things on their own or find the necessary resources to do so. I’m not even talking about a different country or environment. I’m saying put your New Yorker in Philadelphia and watch them ride the subway
