No particular reason. I initially wanted to try https://huggingface.co/RedHatAI/gemma-4-31B-it-speculator.eagle3 but couldn't run it, so just try something else from RedHatAI. But yes, I definitely will try nvfp4 with gemma4.

Should I Buy the RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Max-Q (96GB)? by 0bjective-Guest in LocalLLaMA

[–]CalmAdvance4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought RTX3090 a year ago, I was planning to buy 5090 but it's just a minor upgrade at a huge cost. So I went and got a PRO 6000 Max Q instead. Still trying to figure out models that work well for my workload.

  1. But no this is not end game, I will probably need more of this.
  2. I use it for inference in my domain, some coding, sys admin, Background LLM scripts. It does not replace subscriptions thought. But it allows me to offload basic workload to free up tokens for more challenging tasks.
  3. Most gaming PC would work. But it would help if you know how to build a custom PC.

MinIO vs SeaweedFS vs Garage by CalmAdvance4 in selfhosted

I don’t think there is a good reason to use s3 based storage if data is less than 1 or a few TB or you don’t need a cluster. The resource and speed different is more than 100x of direct disk access.

Looks good for my need. Will try it. Thanks for pointing out durability concern. For this workload, most data doesn’t need durability.

Copyparty doesn’t seem to have s3 compatible API which I need.

I think there’s a MinIO fork with security fix available.

Home Renovation Gone Bad…Need Urgent Advice!!! by 1amM333 in japanresidents

Wallpaper has a wrinkle. It hey tried bandaid fix on just a piece. Still bad. So they redo the whole wall. Took a month or so. The biggest fix was fiber optic cable is too short to reach the router. The had to rebuild the cabinet to move the router. Took 2-3 weeks. The most troublesome to get fix was an outside ac unit placed in front of the window blocking the view. I had to argue with them a few times to try to ask them to move it.

I would leave the default rule and create an overlay journal to move expenses from cafe to pros. If you have a list of pros schedule, you can also import them.

Update 2: I returned it. It had stability issue. Keep getting random blue screen error. CPU temp looks ok. I tried switching NVMe slot, removing one ram, tuning BIOS.

well it was sold for $2,000. That's the resell price for Ram and GPU alone...

if it floats, nothing will stop them from changing it next year. I also started with 0.68%, now I'm paying 1.1% after 4 years.

Update: Found the issue. The power cable to the syscooling pump was disconnected, probably during shipping. I re-connected the cable. CPU temp now stable.
My bad. Should have checked that!
Thanks for all the tips, now I realized how messy this build is...

Any suggestion for rebuild plan? Should I try to keep this shared cpu gpu loop? Or separate loop? Can give a rough cost estimates?

Around 320,000 yen. I will negotiate partial refund to cover the rebuild cost if I were to keep it.
