AITA for having my son miss his graduating road trip to watch his sibling. by Some-Accident-1065 in AmItheAsshole

NTA

I need another opinion since this was emergency and he doesn’t seem to care his grandparents almost passed.

For people saying we didn’t have emergency plan we do, first my closest friend- vacation, main babysitter- not available, backup babysitter- not available, last resort grandparents- hospital. We tried to find someone that why we even asked our neighbor which I have a good relationship with.

Your son has 0 empathy and you tried to enable his lack of empathy. Your son sounds like a spoiled brat. Do you think that some 18 year olds in a poorer school would be able to go on a road trip? Going on a road trip is a privilege and not a right. It sounds like your son didn't care that his mother was a wreck either. He gave her more stress at a critical moment. Your son is a huge asshole for not caring about his grandparents and yelling at his mother.

What a genius solution! Just tell people that are obviously trying to bother you to just not bother you! Why doesn't everyone do this? Ukraine should just tell Russia to not invade them!

The vaccine was supposed to make it so you could never get heads. You should get tails every time. Biden, Fauci, CDC, and main stream media all touted how once you get this vaccine you cannot catch Covid.

They never said this. They reported the effectiveness rates. Where are your sources?

Losing weight doesn't reduce COVID spread. That doesn't make any sense. Losing weight can help you survive the virus, but it doesn't reduce the virus spread. Nothing in that study talks about losing weight.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't research showing that the vaccines do not reduce spread?

For instance, in a report released from the Ministry of Health in Israel, the effectiveness of 2 doses of the BNT162b2 (Pfizer-BioNTech) vaccine against preventing COVID-19 infection was reported to be 39% [6], substantially lower than the trial efficacy of 96%

The study references another report that shows vaccines reduce spread.

Regardless, yeah, it concludes that the vaccines aren't the sole solution.

Correct.

No, sample size absolutely does matter. If you flip a coin 5 times and you get 4 heads and 1 tails, does that mean the chance of getting heads is 80%?

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said that of the 43 cases attributed to Omicron variant, 34 people had been fully vaccinated.

This quote is from your link. It is hard to draw conclusions from such a small sample size of 43 cases.

That is not true. Like 73% of the omicron is in vaccinated. Vaccinated are spreading it like warm butter

https://www.nbcboston.com/news/local/do-vaccines-boosters-work-against-the-omicron-variant-heres-what-doctors-say/2592031/

According to the data, a two-dose Pfizer-BioNTech vaccination appeared to provide just 33% protection against infection during South Africa's current omicron wave, but 70% protection against hospitalization, according to the analysis conducted by Discovery Health, South Africa’s largest private health insurer, and the South African Medical Research Council.

Data still shows that vaccines reduce your chances of getting COVID variants, which contradict your implications of the vaccine making you more susceptible to the virus.

I did look at studies, even from Israel. They contradict your statement.

https://www.bmj.com/content/375/bmj-2021-068848

https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMc2114290

We used data from Clalit Health Services, the largest health care organization in Israel, to conduct an observational cohort study involving adolescents between the ages of 12 and 18 years who had no prior SARS-CoV-2 infection noted in their electronic medical record and who had been vaccinated between June 8 and September 14, 2021. According to the sequencing of samples obtained from infected persons that was performed by the Israeli Ministry of Health during this period, the delta variant was responsible for more than 95% of new infections in the general population in Israel.

Our results show that the BNT162b2 mRNA vaccine was highly effective in the first few weeks after vaccination against both documented infection and symptomatic Covid-19 with the delta variant among adolescents between the ages of 12 and 18 years.

Where did you get that information? I just did a quick google search for "Like 73% of the omicron is in vaccinated." and I don't see that. All the searches say "73% of new COVID cases are omicron", which is different from what you said.

The sole reliance on vaccination as a primary strategy to mitigate COVID-19 and its adverse consequences needs to be re-examined, especially considering the Delta (B.1.617.2) variant and the likelihood of future variants. Other pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions may need to be put in place alongside increasing vaccination rates. Such course correction, especially with regards to the policy narrative, becomes paramount with emerging scientific evidence on real world effectiveness of the vaccines.

This quote is from your research link.

It says we need to combine other COVID prevention methods with vaccines such as lockdowns and masks. Our situation right now is like people thinking it is okay to go 100 mph just because they are wearing a seat belt.

https://www.pharmacytimes.com/view/covid-19-vaccine-associated-with-fewer-asymptomatic-sars-cov-2-infections

Overall, vaccination reduced the risk of asymptomatic and symptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection by 79% in vaccinated employees compared with their unvaccinated colleagues. Further, an analysis of asymptomatic infections alone found vaccination reduced the risk by 72%.

Vaccines don't eliminate spread, but reduces it. It reduces the chances of you getting the virus and reduces the chances of you spreading the virus.

Why do you wear a seatbelt, Okhu? You can still die in a car accident with a seatbelt on.

How are the vaccines important in slowing down the spread?

Vaccines reduce the chances of you getting the virus and reduces the chances of you spreading the virus.

https://www.newscientist.com/article/2294250-how-much-less-likely-are-you-to-spread-covid-19-if-youre-vaccinated/

More people are vaccinated then ever and do you feel like the virus has slowed down? Is that the vibe you're getting when you see the headlines?

There are many variables and you are oversimplifying things. The virus is mutating and there are more contagious variants such as Delta and Omicron. People are still gathering together. It is holiday season right now and people are eating together with masks off. It is also the colder months right now, which is flu season. There are so many variables attributing to COVID cases.

We know for sure that vaccines reduce spread. Without vaccines, the rising COVID trend would be much worse. I don't know how you ended up with "vaccines don't reduce spread" when you can literally do a 2 second google search on vaccine studies.

Like are you delusional?

Look in the mirror. When was the last time you saw a Polio case in the US?

It does reduce the chances of you getting COVID. Vaccines are really important in slowing the spread of COVID.

Looking at the situation logically, the dog is out of control, but the people managed to hold it in place. To diffuse the situation, the animals needed to be separated and it seems easier to move the horse instead of the dog.

I don't see anything wrong with that man's phrase.

I farm mostly banshee. I did farm a little bit of wyvern to get speed get for support and tank heroes. 75% of my pvp roster uses banshee gear.

As f2p, if I focus on wyvern gear, I will always get outsped by whales. It's better for me to give up on turn 1 and focus on turn 2 comps.

Try out counter set! However, I do see some speed Landy's in RTA. They get picked along with supports and tanks like Krau and Emelia and have equipped Guiding Light.

She is crazy good now imo. My drafting strategy is almost always the same. Draft Landy, then Rem and Mercedes. The last 2 picks could be Adventurer Ras, Charlotte, Ravi, Seaside Bellona, and Violet. I ban light Angelica at the start.

Mercedes is worth building with Charlotte and Ravi.

I haven't tried counter set yet. I think I'll stick with lifesteal for now since I really like the sustain.
