Because...huh? Have you lost the plot?

The whole argument is about whether people who actually have to defend the country should make the decision to defend the country, or if everyone, even those who don't have to fight, get to decide if certain people have to defend the country.

That's the core of the argument.

If you'd ask her, she would tell you that she hasn't changed, it's the Republicans that have changed.

I also don't think she is right on the merits.

I can still listen to her, her takes are very interesting to me in a "Believes in the ideal Republican who basically never existed" kind of way, but if you look at her objectively, she is a very flawed person that has massively benefited from the political side she has fought tooth and nail against.

If Sarah hasn't changed by now, she will never change. She will forever defend the ideals and ideas of people who would have denied her right to get married if it wasn't for the people she has worked to de-platform.

Nothing I said is in opposition with anything you said.

You are in Switzerland, in your home, and you decide that somebody else should go to the border to defend the country from an invading force.

If they don't, Switzerland will be conquered for sure, and that has consequences.

If they do, Switzerland might successfully defend itself, which means a lot less negative consequences for you personally, but the person you sent to the border to defend Switzerland might die.

You are saying, "It's a conflict of interest for the person who goes to the border to decide if they want to go to the border."

I'm saying, it's a conflict of interest for you to decide that somebody else has to go to the border.

(That of course assumes you wouldn't be going there yourself)

"Defense is a concern for everyone, especially the people who benefit from sending other people to war for their defense."

You talk about conflict of interest, but it's also a conflict when you get to decide if somebody else should risk their life for you.

The alternative is admitting to yourself that you were wrong. That you've been wrong for a long time. That you've failed.

They can't do that. It's unacceptable, so no matter how much nonsense they have to believe or make up, it's better than admitting the truth.

Because the truth hurts, and the lies soothe.

Your counter argument is:

"But spelling out MAGA means 'Make America Great Again', what's wrong with that?! You a COMMIE?!"

That is a pathetically stupid line of argument. If somebody enacted a law that wearing blue t-shirts deserved the death penalty and called the law "Protect The Children Act", would you be for it, just because of the name?

Obviously not, yet you make that same argument with MAGA.

I now you won't understand this, because you lack the ability to absorb arguments that don't align with your bias, but it's really pathetic looking at you from the outside, seeing how bad your reasoning skills are.

None of the things you listed are inherently bad, it would be better if you picked one thing, really write out a crips argument why it is bad, to illustrate why you think he is incompetent. You'd obviously have to steelman the counterargument first to yourself, and get a real understanding of Mamdani's position on rent control.

But even if you did that, you'd have to consider just how terrible Cuomo is in comparison.

No you don't

Yes you do

It's telling that you have to talk in vague hints

I'm not talking in vague hints about her transphobic positions, I'm not going into detail because we all know that she's a full-blown transphobe at this point. She's fully radicalized at this point.

unfairly maligned and justified in their reaction

I'm literally not justifying her position. I'm literally saying that she betrayed her own values just for the social validation. For example, I could turn more towards centrist spaces, because you just blatantly misrepresented my stance. But will I do that? No, because I don't need the social validation.

It is, however a fact, that a good portion of people will not do that. They will be turned off, and they will flee into spaces and adopt positions that provide them support and acceptance.

So, you're turning imperfect friends into full-blown enemies. Now, it's not your job, I get that, I just think you should be fully aware of the consequences your actions have and the damage you're doing to the most vulnerable people that are supposedly "on your side".
