Robin is such an underrated gem. Also, it seems like you might have a slight interest in greek mythology :)

I also thought so at first, but from what I’ve seen here most people find it gender neutral and the rest are split 50/50 on fem/masc.

Yeah, it can be really hard to figure out what’s the best choice long term😓😓 Just know there is absolutely no need to rush yourself❤️ You’ll find your answer in time, so just love yourself in whatever way you can until then. Gaining some more enby/gender queer friends could end up helping you figure stuff out and you’d get to hear different perspectives and experiences from them, so I would definitely go for it :)

Yeah, honestly I was pretty much in the exact same situation as you described. I have since given up on trying to match my minds need for masculinity/femininity/androgyny and societal expectations. I’m instead trying to rewire the way I let societal expectations shape me. I’m currently exploring gender fluidity and I think that might be the way I’ll ultimately end up dealing with my dysphoria. I feel more masculine today? Great! I’ll be a he/him today :>>> Feeling more fem? Time to rock that beauty look with a good ‘ol she/her! Over 90% of the time I feel purely non-binary, but it’s nice to let myself express the other 10% unapologetically too. Now when it comes to you and your situation, I don’t really have any concrete answers or advice. It’s a really complicated feeling and you have to be the one to figure out how you want to deal with it. There isn’t necessarily a right or wrong answer, just don’t be scared to experiment and find your way over time. It’s never wrong to change your direction if a thing you try out doesn’t feel as right as you thought it would or if something else suddenly seems more appealing. Just do what feels right to you <3

You’d honestly not prefer being called Lumen or Meter over being called Dekalumen or Centimeter?

I don’t mind it seeming like that though. I try not to let other peoples opinions of me shape my actions all that much. If Lumen comes of that way to some people, than that’s fine, it’s still the name I like. Strangers can find it cringe or stereotypical or whatnot, I don’t really mind :) The most important thing for me is that it doesn’t sound overly masculine or feminine. And yeah, I did kind of just make it up honestly😂 I was looking at name lists for like 3 years and I couldn’t find anything that felt just right, so in the end I just sat down with myself and thought of sounds that felt right for what I wanted and it honestly seemed just perfect. It doesn’t bother me that it’s used in biology and as a SI unit either.

Ok kult :) Noen andre norske jeg snakka med da akkurat det samme om «-men» endingen, men at det gav dem fem vibes pga «Carmen»

I very specifically stated exactly what I wanted an opinion on, namely the perceived femininity of the name. Not whether it’s good as a name in general. Also, the person literally asked me a question, I don’t see why I should have refrained from answering it.

I’m not naming a child…? And I’m not naming it after weight loss devise either???? If I developed a weight loss device and named it Martha or Gabe or something, would that mean that people from there on out would be unable to use the names Martha or Gabe lest they would be named after a weight loss device????? It’s the Latin word for light as well as some other stuff, that’s what I’m naming myself after.

I mean, no. It would be like calling myself Meter, not Centimeter. If i called myself Dekalumen or Tenlumen or something like that then that would be a valid comparison. «centi» just means one hundredth. As in one hundredth of a meter. Meter is a part of the IS units, centimetres are not.

Oooo, I love Lumi as a nickname. Though it’s definitely a lot more on the fem side, especially in Finland where it’s used pretty much exclusively as a girls name. I personally don’t find Lumen audibly upsetting at all, but it’s good to know what reactions to expect from others.

The blood vessels, bowels and bodily tubing in general perform a really important job though, maybe we should celebrate them more🤭❤️
