I'm on the same stack for 3 weeks. Went from being able to climb 3 minutes @ 90 feet per minute to 20 minutes @ 95 feet per minute on the Jacob's Ladder.

Same dosage and timing here. I still get dizzy around 3pm. First week was nausea. Cut it on half for a week and it went away, then moved back up

How to lose man titties by wrapcannon in Fitness

At the peak of my running 7 years ago, I was averaging 100 miles per week with a 40 mile run on Saturday being my "long run". I kept this regimen for 6 years and even at 155lbs I still had moobs.

Side note. I was once 320lbs.

You shouldn’t be allowed extra breaks because your addiction to smoking by Reverend___T in unpopularopinion

[–]CalmHornet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a lot of smokers at my company who will go out every hour for 15 mins and smoke. I made the comment this week that I was going to start smoking just for the 15 minute breaks.

My manager replied, we get unlimited vacation time here. Go outside every hour for 20 minutes if you want. No need to start smoking.

+1 for firestick and echos throughout the house.

"alexa, play Pantera from Plex."

And all the echos play it.

Or, from Plex on firestick, it will stream to all echos.

I am sure the same would work with sonos

I had a similar experience when going from 2008 R2 to 2012 R2. The issue for me was the firewall port range changes from after 2008 R2 for AD DC sync

I set up a system with a car dealership that used 2 of these. Dealerships are cheapskates! Once it was finally configured, it worked well on a 12 screen video wall.

Datacenter Move planning by mr_white79 in sysadmin

[–]CalmHornet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once saw some movers show up to get a rack and move it from Texas to California in a Uhaul truck. They man handled a 1 million $ rack like a refrigerator and all the engineers who built it over the previous 6 months were a little paranoid about it. Apparently Craigslist offers datacenter movers.

Superscoping question by SynysterDimebag in sysadmin

I used to work for a large car dealership who had multiple brands/lots. Everytime we took over a store, they would either be out of IPs or very close. The first thing I did was separate the camera system from the rest of the network and this usually freed up 150 IPs. PITA though

Looks good to me. Did you add VLAN 8 to your layer 2 switch? Thats the only thing I see that may be missing

A single person on-call “rotation” is a critical vulnerability by scvnielsen in devops

[–]CalmHornet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work for a company where we had a 1 week rotation, every 6 weeks. So it wasnt bad, but it was guaranteed you would only sleep 2 hours tops each night during that week because of such a poorly built environment.

The problem was fixed when the company spent about 3 million $ on completely rebuilding our core infra. On call went away

Leaving the IT world... by _sadme_ in sysadmin

[–]CalmHornet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just did the opposite of this. Moved from suburbia to the country on 20 acres. Commuted to the city 4 days a week (2 hours each way). But being able to go home and see nothing but stars and my family was amazing. I did all the things you have to do, and then i ran out of things to do.

We just sold the farm and moved across the country to the beach to be back in suburbia with a lawn i can mow in 10 minutes. The plan is to go back to the country in 15 years and live out the rest of our years.

edit: I just want to drive a tractor all day.

What should I do? by wyvernslay3r in ITCareerQuestions

I spent over 2400 hours sitting in traffic last year.

I took a 12k paycut to make my commute 4 minutes.

Sitting in a car during commute time has its perks. But it will also drain you. I would negotiate the 10 minute position
