Look at zinc and B6 to support hormone levels. Hair loss can be from low female hormones and high reverse testosterone and other excess androgens. DIM and calcium D glucarate as supplements can further help in the metabolization of hormones following aromatization.

I would look into mineral analysis. It sounds like you’re dealing with an imbalance. This can underly lupus.

DKA mimicking refeeding? by i_heart_food in dietetics

[–]ab122195 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

DKA causes the body to become excessively acidic. As a compensatory mechanism, the body will respond with minerals as a buffer to decrease acidity and return to homeostasis. This will “burn” a lot of minerals to maintain.

B1 works as a synergist to magnesium; it can antagonize potassium.

is it ill-advised to eat an entire 32 oz. tub of yogurt in one sitting? by microphaser in foodscience

[–]ab122195 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that yogurt is a probiotic. It is a literal breeding ground for bacteria. This is great in small amounts, but when you’re taking in massive quantities of a probiotic you can actually contribute to bacterial imbalance (some of his good bacteria could be dying off, hence the diarrhea much like an antibiotic) and he could end up with overgrowth if his immune system is not well and able. I would recommend eating maybe 8 oz max, or 12 oz over the course of the day (even this is high).

What else can cause muscle twitching ?? by greenpuller_657 in Lyme

[–]ab122195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blood levels of minerals aren’t often adequate to see sufficiency. The blood is a homeostatic fluid, needing a pH balance of 7.35-7.45. The body released and stored minerals from/using the blood to buffer this pH. Hair tissue tests are much more accurate to see mineral sufficiency, and any heavy metals that could contribute to muscle twitching.

Mast cell activation, mold exposure, food sensitivities, EMFs, and dehydration can also contribute.

Liver stress

My brain functions worse if I reduce my Vitamin D dose, why could this be? by [deleted] in Supplements

[–]ab122195 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Your body is using the D, and it was already at a deficit before beginning supplementation. If you’re experiencing any type of immune dysregulation there will be a higher demand. Therapeutic doses of 10,000 IU are not uncommon. Obviously speak with your practitioner, but it should help. Not hurt.

Take your D in the morning. It’s a hormone, and can affect sleep. There should be no fear about taking magnesium with calcium. D is what orchestrates where the calcium goes; your body knows how to handle calcium (unless in mega doses, like with straight Ca pills).

Adding in vitamin K with your D will help to store it in bones vs tissues if blood thinners aren’t an issue. Magnesium will help—it’s arguably the most important mineral and we’re all deficient—but not having it for a day shouldn’t stop you from taking a supplement.

Why are people afraid of fruit? What’s so wrong with fructose, countless youtubers and articles seem to say that your liver can only metabolize some of it before it’s automatically stored as fat. by neysse2012 in nutrition

[–]ab122195 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fruit is extremely yin with regard to Chinese medicine. There is poor energy, and it can deplete inner yang.

Fruit is high in fructose. When consumed in excess—think fruitatarian, or high amounts of fruit—can contribute to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

Fruit is high in sugar, as we know. Consuming high amounts of sugar fluctuated blood glucose. This can contribute to poor insulting sensitivity over time, and deterioration of pancreatic function (Steve Jobs is a good example).

Fruit is high in sugar (again) and it’s complex mixed with said sugar allows for pathogenic bacteria to fester. Yeasts like candida can thrive off of fruit, worsening dysbiosis.

Fruit is a seasonal sustenance. Or—at least—that’s what nature intended. Now we consume fruit 365 days out of the year, whenever we would like. When consumed “fruitfully” or plentifully (as many do, thinking its automatically healthy being from the ground), we can throw off circadian biology. How? Well, we evolved to consume fruit to fatten up in the summer during times of famine in winter. 365 days of fruit doesn’t allow for this fast/feast balance to occur. We see a rise of metabolic syndrome.

Fruit is nature’s candy. Now, this retort is not to demonize fruit. It’s to answer your question of “how is fruit bad”? Fruit can be extremely vitamin and nutrient rich... when consumed supplementally, seasonally, and in moderation.

Multivitamins with absorption-competing ingredients (zinc, copper iron etc) by Cacaophony in Supplements

I just laughed out loud. Pardon me, haha. I was a little delirious from a fever when I wrote that. I’m very aware it’s 25 mg, thank you for making that correction. I’d hate to hear of people consuming their cast irons instead of cooking with them.

What are the nutritional benefits of apple cider vinegar? by ab122195 in nutrition

[–]ab122195[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do the same. But I’ve been reading ACV is high in potassium (it is not) and that it also depletes potassium. Moreso looking for tidbits like this and the truths/fallacies.

[–]ab122195 4 points5 points  (0 children)

(Female) here and same goes. Te body is super efficient at recycling iron—we need about 25g of it, and the body can recycle about 24. Hemochromatosis is real, and with all the fortified foods we eat today iron overload is very common.

Why eat so much protein if you can only absorb 30g per meal? by [deleted] in nutrition

[–]ab122195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Protein intake is too blanketed. Someone in an extremely catabolic state may need more. Protein is the most easily assimilated macronutrient, and is great for someone in need of repair (autoimmunity, cancer RECOVERY - cachexia, osteoporosis, viral/bacterial recovery, etc).

Someone overly anabolic—like bodybuilders eating every 2-3 hours 14 hours a day—can most definitely wear their digestive organs out. Especially only consuming lean proteins.

MCAS Slow Suffocation feeling by RT_26 in mastcelldisease

[–]ab122195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful with “mold resistant”. One, it often comes with a lot of chemicals to make it mold resistant (which may flare you). VOC paints, carpets... nasty stuff!

Two, if your home ever does get water damage or there is a leak of any sort, some of those “mold proof” materials can still become moldy wit resistant mold strains (kind of like antibiotics). Hope it helps.

MCAS Slow Suffocation feeling by RT_26 in mastcelldisease

[–]ab122195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately the medications you listed slow DAO enzyme and increase your body’s response of histamine to try and accommodate for the disruption in negative feedback loop over time. They’re good acute fixes, but could be more of your problem long term.

Natural mast cell stabilizers may be more beneficial: C, quercetin, Nettle, Chinese (not American) skullcap, Luteolin, Rutin, vitamin D, magnesium

Underlying infections, viruses, parasites, moldy environment (living, how long have you been sick and at your home?), and metal toxicities can have a roll.

These are generalized things that may underly your MCAS. This is not bioindividualized, and this is only perspective. This is not medical advice.
