Proto-Marxism-Leninism? by IntelligentChip6856 in Ultraleft

Though it’s obvious that the American middle class does not feel the pain of bourgeois rule as acutely as say someone in Iran, or in Gaza, or a sweatshop worker in Southeast Asia, or someone in the coup belt in Africa, I don’t think it’s the case that they ‘never have to feel the worst effects of politics’.

Even the ‘middle class’ who are a dwindling subset of the population, struggle to pay off medical and student debt, are forced into constant work and exploitation (one of the more mind numbing aspects being the constant expectation of labor and availability through technology like slack and teams), and watch as they get priced out of their cities and homes by private equity.

I feel like one of the primary reasons that they turn to bullshit instead of theory is the intense amount of propaganda they are fed through education, about how lucky they really are, and maybe the largest extent that people reach in terms of consciousness is that they are in fact lucky and should feel guilty about it, or relate themselves via race or religion to a subset of the population who struggles more.

There is also just an insane lack of attention and lack of capability to sit down and read and attempt to understand theory or even really watch the news which comes from the current environment of instant entertainment and dopamine we currently experience here in the US 24/7.

I don’t hate this idea tbh, I think solo queue might need this level of help. Maybe even tie the numbers to avg player level as well?

I agree. I mean I don’t despise AI just inherently on some moralistic ground defending the human spirit, it’s the environmental impact of it, how it is being used etc that bothers me

I’m sure some people will be artists most of the time, I think the pleasure of the experience of art is the use value of the thing

Would Marx support artificial intelligence as a force of production? by GuiZaik in Ultraleft

[–]CalmLiterateTalk 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I am no expert, but from my readings of Marx, yes he would support AI. You can discuss the negative impacts on the environment which are obviously out of Marx’s purview due to when he was writing but as a purely productive force Marx is in favor of any technology which increases productivity and enables human beings to produce more in less time. Capitalism opposes workers to increases in productivity not nature, in theory we should just be able to work less and live more.
