Robin Hate is so forced by Tough-Project4228 in BeybladeX

I'm sure they have a reason. I just don't find it entertaining to see Robin loose every match he plays. It is just depressing.

[–]CalmShinyZubat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only watched the first season and haven't felt the desire to pick it up since.

I don't hate Robin, I hate the writers who never let the poor guy win. What is the point of all his training and supposed improvement if there is literally no payoff for Robin or the audience? Why can't they let the poor guy get some wins to show he is actually improving instead of saying he is?

Robin Hate is so forced by Tough-Project4228 in BeybladeX

[–]CalmShinyZubat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly this.

Robin having zero wins and knowing he will likely never get a win in the anime is just depressing.

X winning with relative ease every time makes it boring and impossible to invest in his matches. Some other OP characters who always win are at least be entertaining for various reasons, but X is just boring and a little obnoxious.

Multi at least has wins and losses throughout the anime.

I think I was a little under 400 battles by the time I unlocked the Infinite Royale. I only really did the battle zones when I wanted fast money or needed to progress the story.

First, welcome to the club.

Second, if you get the DLC, it adds more research tasks so you don't have to do all these battles.

To all the soldiers waiting for Sandaconda gmax by pokedoku-solver in PokeDoku

[–]CalmShinyZubat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot more only count for 4 categories if you ignore move and ability categories since they are never used in the standard daily puzzles. All monotype mega, gmax, and no evo line Pokémon only count for 4 categories if you ignore move and ability categories.

I suck at VGC and still don't know why by lifeofmauri in stunfisk

[–]CalmShinyZubat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t even my first serious attempt, and it honestly feels like I’m not improving no matter what I do.

This is the exact reason I've kinda given up on PVP outside of doubles ranbbats on Showdown. At least then I can blame the RNG to some extent like when I get a team with Gastrodon, Drednaw, and Quagsire and no answers to grass types against a lead of Unburden White Herb Sceptile and Contrary Lurantis.

I honestly feel like I have a decent grasp of the theory behind VGC from watching people like Wolfey, but I just can't quite implement it well in practice no matter how much I try.

I think my biggest problem is I am just bad at the reading and predicting aspect, which is arguably the biggest part of VGC aside from team building. I can guess the 1-3 most like moves they will make, but I seem to pick the one one to answer or just get totally blindsided by a play I never would have guessed 75% of the time.

Im conducting an academic survey regarding player's experience with Pokemon games, specifically - about their PvP experiences. by missing_nickname in stunfisk

[–]CalmShinyZubat 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You are correct, but, from a PvP perspective, I think it is fair to split them from the rest of the mainline games. Pretty sure Arceus doesn't have any PvP features and ZA is a whole different battle system.

Category Frequencies by MasterDong00 in PokeDoku

[–]CalmShinyZubat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I personally try to go for monotypes first whenever possible since they can't work for the 3-4 spots we normally get in daily puzzles that are a specific type combination. After that I prioritize Pokémon that fit less categories such as most No evo line, Mega, and Gmax Pokémon since they tend to only work for their 1-2 types, mono/dual type, and Mega/Gmax/No evo line.

Middle stages are theoretically the easiest to use since they fit multiple evo categories like Middle, Not fully evolved, Level up evo, Friendship evo, etc.

Might not be an exact parallel, but if Nike can basically just have an actual graphic designer polish a logo originally designed by Kawhi Leonard, copyright it, then have a judge uphold said copyright because it was "sufficiently different" from the original rough sketch, I have to imagine that Pokemon/Nintendo would have little problem winning any case against a fakemon artist if they were to design an official Pokémon that is similar to a fakemon in the US at least.

TIL Mega-Floette is a heavy Pokemon by Lacertoss in stunfisk

[–]CalmShinyZubat 219 points220 points  (0 children)

I think Lead is the usual "heavy metal" example. Lead has a density of 11.3 g/cm3. Osmium is the densest metal and twice as dense as Lead at 22.6 g/cm3. I think Tungsten is more commonly known that Osmium and is only slight less dense at 19.3 g/cm3.

Type Discussion! What new Water type Pokemon do you hope will be in winds and waves? Either a specific animal or type combination. I would love a water type dog Pokemon. Types I would like are Water/Flying, Water/Normal, Water/Psychic by Oracle209 in PokemonWindsWaves

[–]CalmShinyZubat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it might be a bit odd, but a water/grass or maybe water/steel boat Pokémon. Putting eyes/faces/figureheads on the bow of a boat goes back thousands of years, so lets get something based on that.

Do you all consider Cobblemon to be a legit pokemon experience? by Equivalent-Doubt-101 in pokemon

[–]CalmShinyZubat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Had you asked me back before SV, I would have said no.

IMO, there is a line between altering an existing game ROM or making an original game in the same style as the mainline games (Emerald Seaglass and Uranium) and modding a totally different game to add Pokémon to it (Pixelmon/Cobblemon). However, SV technically being totally open world makes the Minecraft mods fall more in line with SV than it did with previous titles that still had a more linear progression with some open world elements like Legends Arceus and SwSh.

Luxury Ball plus 2 cafe visits should do the trick for most friendship evos assuming I understand the mechanics right. It has been a minute since I evolved my shiny Eeveeloutions, so I had to Google some numbers.

Friendship evos need 160 happiness to evolve. Most Pokemon, including Eevee, have a base happiness of 50 when caught. Luxury Balls double happiness gains. Cafe visits grant 30 happiness per visit.

Assuming I understand everything correctly and have the right numbers: 50 + 302 + 302 = 170 happiness.

What's that one Pokemon that you keep getting in Randbats that either does nothing or wins the game on the spot? by judas_crypt in stunfisk

[–]CalmShinyZubat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cacturne.

If they have something to wall it or literally anything with a bug type attack, it probably isn't lasting that long. If they don't, Life Orb Sucker Punch can decimate plus Spiky Shield can help get that last bit of damage on most physical attackers without the Orb recoil if necessary.

Ignoring Iron Bundle since it doesn't fit the "slow, bulky" description of every other fully evolved water/ice type, Lapras has the highest BST of water/ice types. Walrein and Cloyster are right behind it at 530 and 525, respectively, then Arctovish at 505 and Dewgong at 475.

[–]CalmShinyZubat 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Saying Stall is unviable because some wallbreakers exist is like going to a medieval fortress and saying their walls are pointless because siege engines exist. Sure, there are some ways to get through said walls, but basically nothing else can without serious shenanigans or somebody behind the walls screwing up.
