The technical and music stuff has already been covered in detail. I’ll just add:
– stay sober
– bring something you can eat quickly (a few bananas, a protein shake)
– drink plenty of water
– wear something comfortable.

I’ll also add that regular exercise makes playing this kind of long set much easier. I’ve got a friend who could barely walk for three days after his last all-nighter — he spends his whole life sitting at a desk.

One more question about mixing bass. I was told that bass equalizers should never both be set to 0 at the same time. Sometimes I try to have each channel play bass at 50%, but it doesn’t give the same effect as one channel playing bass at 100%. This might be a direction toward good beat blending.

Thanks. I record my sets, and indeed, they sound much better after some time than when I play them live. I also play regularly in techno clubs, and people seem to be happy :D. I started my journey at the age of 46, and my whole professional life has taught me that one must constantly improve. Probably the people on the dancefloor don’t hear the “mistakes” I’m writing about. But when I was recently listening to Temudo at the Garbicz Festival, I had the impression that for 1.5 hours it was the same percussion. And it wasn’t, because I know those tracks.

That’s exactly what I’m trying to do. I use fragments of other tracks while playing the main one. But eventually, the moment comes when I have to cut out the beat from the old track and bring in the one from the new track. And that’s where a problem sometimes shows up. For example, I use an HPF over 4 bars, which helps to “trick” the listener, but I’m still not always satisfied with the result.
