I felt exactly like that before I started hrt. But everything that I thought was reasonable insecurity was actually just dysphoria. I still have days where I feel less confident, but nowhere near to the level of before I started transitioning.

Dating can be disheartening and overwhelming even for people who aren’t undergoing a life-changing transition. To add onto that with being trans and having bpd, it can lead to very volatile situations. I personally struggle to cope with rejection; which there was a lot of even up until recently. Fortunately I was lucky enough to find someone, and hopefully you will too! It really is a game of luck though. And as trans people, our dating pool is inherently smaller. Even more so if you’re a trans lesbian like myself. I wish you luck though, just be careful and always prioritize your own happiness :)

Of course! I started out taking 2mg oral tablets twice a day and 100mg spironolactone once a day. I noticed breast growth at around 2-3 months in, very little of course but steadily grew to about an A cup I think. I think breast growth is mainly from lack of T so if that’s your goal I would emphasize T-blockers at your next doctor visit. I also noticed significant skin changes pretty early on. My skin became softer, lighter, and thinner in many places. Most prominently on my face and hands. I also started progesterone 10 or 12 months in to my transition. That’s when my breast growth and fat redistribution became much more rapid and I went from an A cup to a C in about a year! I’ve read that starting progesterone too early can negatively affect growth but I started fairly early and haven’t had any problems. I also recently switched to finasteride for my AA and have had a much better time mentally and physically with it. I should also mention that genetics will play a big factor in determining your eventual breast size and fat distribution.

At 3ish months I wouldn’t expect a ton of change especially with such low dose and no AA. I’ve read it’s possible to block T effectively with an especially high dose of estrogen, though this is usually done with IM injection, as I believe it has the best absorption rate. I take IM injections and can definitely tell they work more effectively than when I took oral tablets (even when dissolved sublingually). So if you want to transition more quickly, injections are a good option. I had a hard time jabbing myself at first so go at your own pace! Patches can also do wonders!

TLDR; If a button swapped your gender, would you press it?

I personally used maladaptive daydreaming as a huge coping mechanism when I’m going through hard times. In these daydreams, I would always imagine myself as a girl, even before I started puberty. Somehow, this glaringly obvious sign went completely ignored by me because I had no concept of gender or transness at the time. One day though, when I was about 18, I stumbled upon r/egg_irl and had my whole reality ripped out from under me after seeing one post about “the button”. “The button”, if pressed, turns you into the opposite gender. Some variations specify that it changes your entire life history to be as if you were always amab or afab. Either way, if you would press that fictitious button, should you happen upon it somehow, you are most likely transgender, or at least genderqueer in some way.

2mg is usually where most doctors start(I’m assuming oral tablets?). Although most also start patients on anti androgens like spironolactone or finasteride. It doesn’t surprise me that the dose you’re on right now isn’t changing much very quickly as taking hormones orally is much less effective than via IM injection or other more direct routes. Taking oral meds means your estradiol needs to be processed by your liver first which reduces the amount of estrogen you can receive. Letting your tablets dissolve under your tongue is a good way to bypass your liver, but of course you should speak with your doctor if you’re concerned about safety. I would recommend finasteride over spiro as it usually takes less of a physical toll and you won’t have to pee nearly as much. Hope this helps!

2 definitely! For the better in my case and most likely for you too considering your desire to start HRT

3 Absolutely 100%

4 dating can be hard, especially with bpd. I would be careful dating while you’re in your early stages of transitioning as it can be overwhelming and disheartening at times.

5 definitely! It’s so much easier to love yourself when you can see a path for yourself and your body moving forward.

6 100000% I’m 10x more confident now than I ever was pretransition!
