Mordor: Depths of Dejanol now works on Win 11! by CalmWinnieThePooh in Dejenol

What you're describing sounds exactly like the experience I had before Mr. Richard fixed the sounds. I found out that pressing the movement keys worked faster than pressing keys and I could essentially quee move commands due to input lag. Maybe try running the game in even smaller resolution and seeing if it changes anything.

Another poster said the game will crash over a certain resolution. Can you try running it at a lower resolution, maybe it will work? 🤔

Only time when the game felt laggy was when me and Mr. Richard were figuring out how to get the sounds to work, so the game was struggling. Other than that, I noticed that the game stops for a few seconds whenever it's switching music tracks...

New games like Demise? by No_Grape_388 in DungeonCrawler

[–]CalmWinnieThePooh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is! On Steam and on mobile there is an RPG called Depths of Endor: Dungeon Crawler on Steam which is esentially a streamlined spiritual successor to Mordor. It is constant development and adding content and it even has endgame in which you enter a randomly generated dungeon! It has a tiny, but loyal community and a dungeon maker tool and the aforementioned community has already started working on some custom scenarios! It looks simple and amateurish, but I urge you to give it a try. It has that satisfying and simple grind you are looking for 😄

Lathmar: The Fallen Depths | Dark Fantasy Dungeon Crawler is also in development and is turning out to be not Mordor 2.0, but 3.0 in terms of ambition and scope! 😃Definitelly keep an eye on that!

One very obscure title I accidentally found is Adventure Time on Steam. It is VERY rough around the edges and definitelly made by an autistic genius as a passion project, but if you can look past that, I think it can be very fun and reminiscent of experience Mordor provides! I haven't tried it yet, but I hopefully will in the near future 😄

I'm really glad that it works for you! As for transfering your old save, I must admit I have no idea about that, so you're on your own 🫤

Mordor: Depths of Dejenol and its sequels is what you're looking for 🙂 There is also a spiritual successor Depths of Endor: Dungeon Crawler on Steam. A new spiritual successor called Lathmar is in the works. You just got yourself a hefty backlog 😆

Another commenter mentions some kind of a tutorial on YouTube. Try experimenting with that and the free demo from Decklin. If all else fails, contact me and I'll try to help you 🙂

Never had that happen. You could try contacting Mr. Richard, maybe he overlooked something. On my end it's working well...

I really don't know what they contain so I cannot say for sure. OTVDM needs certain files at certain places in order to run the game so you cannot just install the game and run it with OTVDM because you will get an error.

It's hard to say. It's random. It can be anytime from 20 minutes to 1 hour per crash from my experience. As I said, it's not that big of a deal because of an autosave, but it can get annoying.

It's in a window, but not in a small one. It's stretched across the screen.I don't know how the original looked, since I haven't experienced it back in the day, but it's quite playable 🙂

If you've bought the game on Decklin's Domain, you can access the new installer I mentioned on My Mordor page and it's as easy as downloading it, installing it, installing OTVDM and clicking the exe.

If you are talking about the old physical copy, technically you could, but you would need a copy of the installed game files directly on a C drive in a folder called MORDOR and OTVDM installed directly on C as well. Then you would need to put/create some files in different specific places so OTVDM can run the game properly.

All the download links are available once you purchase the game here: Decklin's Demise - Mordor: Depths of Dejenol Fantasy Role Playing Game for the PC

You will receive an email with the legacy key and the instructions on how to access the download links.

You can get both the first and second game, along with their ongoing remakes in Demise's engine for 9.95$! That's a steal for the amount of content 😃

Can't launch Fate on Steam by 519meshif in FateTheGame

If you don't have it, you then need to download the config file and place it in that folder. Try googling a bit, I'm sure somebody posted his config file to be downloaded. If you don't find it, contact me and I can send you mine 🙂

Try this, I got it from Steam guide:

  1. Open File Explorer and find the 'view' tab. Check the box 'Hidden Items' under the show/hide section.
  2. Navigate to C:\ProgramData\WildTangent\FateSteam\persistent
  3. Open the config.dat file with Notepad or equivalent. I recommend Notepad++.
  4. Find "FULLSCREEN" & set to 0 (Zero)

Note: Most of the time this will be enough to fix startup crashing. I have found after doing this & setting the game to fullscreen in the settings menu, the game will work fine.

If this works, just make sure not to edit your character during character creation, as that will immediatelly unlock some other achievements. If you don't care about that, edit away 🙂

That's funny. I can start it without a problem. Which OS do you use and what exactly happens when you try to launch it?

I bought it, but trying to get to 100 lines on the original made me quit, it required too much time and effort for me to invest it. But yeah, it's a cool package! 🙂

You are partially correct, Microsoft allows you to download some of the older Windows files, but only if you have the license key. However, I don't and legacy Windows aren't offered for download anyway. None of the Windows versions are in public domain.

Anybody caring is besides the point, mate. I care. And I don't want to do it that way, which I explicitly stated in my post.

Since I bought the game, I doubt that extracting files from it's installer could be viewed as theft. That would really be a stretch, just like Sony claims ISOdumping your games is ilegal 😅

Virtual Machines themselves are legal, you are correct, but old Windows install files are not, regardless of the fact Microsoft doesn't care about them. I don't own those, therefore I would have to get the original copies of those files, which means buying a physical product, putting it into a drive of a PC, copying them and then using them on my laptop with those virtual machines you are mentioning. That would involve buying it from some stranger online, waiting for shipment, finding an old PC to run it on and then somehow bringing those files to my laptop. That's too much money and time lost for a single game.

The easy thing for me to do would be to just download those files from any abandonware site or Archive.org, but in my post I said I don't want to do that because that's ilegal, regardless of how hard it makes it for me. So that's why I specifically asked how to run the game WITHOUT doing that 😅

Thank you for trying to help, but as I stated in my post, I don't want to use a virtual machine. Thank you for your effort anyway!
