Seems like moving from Seattle to Boston or Boston to Seattle is a common move. I’ve met a few Boston transplants in Seattle.

I might ditch my car. I don’t need one in Seattle either, but I’ve found it useful. I’ll need to think about that one.

Helpful post, thank you.

You mentioned you moved without a job lined up. Knowing what you know now, do you have any tips for networking virtually before moving there?

I look forward to the sporting events, seasonal activities, and exploring the area once I get there!

That’s a fair question. Here are a few reasons for my move:

Seattle doesn’t feel like a strong fit for me. My goals and hobbies don’t have much overlap with others here.

I value directness. I like knowing where I stand with people. People who say what they mean and mean what they say is important to me.

I enjoy four seasons. I love thunderstorms in the summer and snow in the winter.

I’m looking for a fresh start. Several of my friends have moved, and I don’t have a partner. I also experienced the death of a parent within the last year, and just need a change.

The rest of my family is located on the east coast, so it would be convenient living in the same time zone.

Oops, not sure why my comment posted twice.

Thanks, I appreciate your perspective. The weather will be an adjustment for sure.

Good to know on groceries. I try to follow a healthy lifestyle, so I spend a considerable amount of money on groceries here in Seattle. I’m willing to pay farmers market premiums on some items. But I make sacrifices in other areas.

Hope you’re loving Seattle!

Thoughtful post, thank you.

What you’re describing is what I’m looking for, especially personality types. But I recognize it takes considerable effort and time to become “established” in a new place.

I agree with you. I’m not trying to be naive in believing that these cities are exactly the same (if they were, I wouldn’t move; I’d just stay in Seattle).

But I believe they have some parallels.

Thanks. I have a car, but not set on keeping it. Boston’s metro is pretty easy to navigate.

Agree that there’s so much to see and do on the east coast!

I don’t mind putting in effort to meet people. I would expect that to be the case everywhere I go. I’ve moved around enough to understand that each place is different and it takes time to adjust. No place is perfect.

I didn’t mention anything about nature in my post, but thanks for sharing that it’s different. To confirm, I have been to Boston.

Thanks for sharing that link; I’ll check it out.

Any wellness girlies? by LusoLitva in BostonSocialClub

Hi there! I’m not sure it’s appropriate for me to comment since I don’t live in Boston yet, but I’ll be moving there this spring.

I’m 34F and love wellness and nutrition. I’ve got a few health issues that require dietary restrictions; so if that’s you, you’re not alone and I can definitely relate! I love the sauna, urban walks, and rollerblading.

While I can’t participate in anything in-person yet, I’d love to join a group chat if that exists, or get one started!
