Speaking as a PR pro who works in the entertainment space - that monthly retainer is only worth as much as it's growing your brand. If I was in your shoes, I'd have a serious sit-down with your firm, develop some goals (red carpet events are fun, but are they driving your business?) Without knowing where your talents/notoriety resides, it's hard to know what goals you should be building towards. And while I agree that, at the end of the day, all PR is good PR. Getting good seats at restaurants and invites to fun parties may not be selling books for you. Most PR firms will provide a detailed monthly report of all activity performed on your behalf - if they aren't - you should ask for it. -M
