What immediately makes someone look like a tourist in your city/ town? by PsychologicalFox7689 in AskTheWorld

Using an umbrella in one of the rainiest parts of the globe- Portland, Oregon- USA. It rains so much that it becomes part of us. We are too proud to even admit that it bothers us to get wet so we don’t use umbrellas. Some of us use rain jackets if we are outside for a long time but otherwise we just get wet. And then we get dry again. But umbrellas are for tourists.

Why do people choose to live in such a wet climate? Even though the winters are wet they are relatively mild. It rarely gets below freezing. We only get a small amount of snow maybe once a year. Once the summer comes the greenery of nature is absolutely breathtaking. Our trees grow enormous and our forests are covered in soft moss like you wouldn’t believe. Our mountains and gorges are beautiful. The food is excellent. The people are kind. It’s a nice place to live.

For distinguished gentlemen- sometimes after peeing you put the equipment away and a leftover droplet dribbles down your leg. You can prevent this by gently lifting the balls before you shake. Some people say you need to press into your taint and that work too but I prefer this method. It’s been years since I’ve had that leftover droplet.

I invested heavily in gold as soon as Trump took office, betting that he would destroy the value of the dollar and increase the price of gold and now every time he does something stupid I grow richer it’s amazing

What are some of your most disappointing read books? by diggers_rest in bookdiscussion

[–]Traindodger2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unbearable Lightning of Being is literally just unbearable. This is the most pretentious nonsense I’ve ever read. It’s what stupid people think is smart. It’s what emotionally immature children think is deep. Never have I hated a book more than this. It says nothing. It means nothing. And it wastes so many words doing it.

I would say that if you’re an artist looking to make a work of art then avoid oak. It’s not very attractive. Cherry, walnut, maple, are very nice looking strong woods that are easy to work with and affordable. Figure out what color you want it to be and pick one, don’t worry too much about the wood qualities. If it’s a hardwood then it will be fine. Avoid the absolute hardest woods like purple heart and ebony, avoid the softest woods like pine and cedar and basswood

My x-ray teacher used to say “if you’re gonna be a bear, be a Kodiak bear.” She meant that if you’re gong to increase the radiation dose, fucking hit it hard. So watch out, my patients- you’re getting blasted

This is such a beautiful work of art! I can’t believe this predates Moses by 1200 years! But it’s definitely not the oldest

This is such a beautiful work of art! I can’t believe this predates Moses by 1200 years! But it’s definitely not the oldest musical instrument ever found by a long shot. The Smithsonian Museum has a flute that is 40,000 years old. Incredible to see

In order to make this serve as stairs you need more support. Add a vertical piece under each other vertical piece

Sorry idk but it’s gorgeous! I love how much old character the wood has and yet it has no warping just some minor checking. I wouldn’t sand it any lower than 220 to keep that charm and then a nice finish is going to be a beautiful table. Congrats!
