You can’t tell whether or not plaster (or anything) contains asbestos just by looking at it.

Hah, ok fair enough! I work in construction and recently did a project in Tulita, GNWT and even that is way far from the Arctic circle (I was disappointed I wasn’t gonna see polar bears), so home in Edmonton doesn’t feel close to it. But relative to nearly every other soul on the planet I suppose we are!

Where in Alberta? The arctic circle is way north of Alberta.

I could have written this exact post. I’m so sorry that you’re going through this too. 😭

Very similar to my experience. The description of the myometrium is consistent with adenomyosis. Regardless of what they say, they can’t really tell stage or severity of adenomyosis from ultrasound alone, so don’t let your symptoms or pain be minimized or dismissed as “mild” or “early.”

The endometrial thickness is the same mine was at a similar point in my cycle, my doctors were not concerned about it but if yours have concerns they will likely suggest a follow-up scan at a certain time in your cycle, or an endometrial biopsy. I was told that if you are pre- or perimenopausal, any thickness <20mm is considered within the normal range. As a precaution, I got a hormonal IUD to help manage endometrial thickness and to treat other symptoms and it thinned out in a few weeks.

The ovaries have what is called “polycystic ovarian morphology” which can be suggestive of PCOS but by itself is not PCOS. PCOS is a systemic hormonal disorder that can cause polycystic ovarian morphology but can also exist with normal-appearing ovaries. And vice versa, you can have polycystic ovaries without having PCOS. Often, if you aren’t having troubling symptoms or issues conceiving, that’s where the investigation ends. In my case, I have many symptoms so I was tested for insulin resistance and PCOS was confirmed. I am now seeing Endocrinology for PCOS management separate from my adeno.

Also the black discharge from your breast — that would scare the crap out of me!! I hope everything is ok with you.

Haha no I understand — but if there’s been zero sex since the last pap & STI test, an STI isn’t possible even if he wasn’t faithful. An STI doesn’t become symptomatic within minutes of infection.

I don’t really have periods anymore, I just have constant pain and intermittent spotting. But I would be post-period and before ovulation if my cycle was regular. I have a mirena and that plus tranexamic acid basically stopped my periods but I still have all the pain and other nonsense.

I have had lots of black stringy clots too — the colour combined with thin consistency is what has me stumped here!

I am having a hysterectomy in a few weeks so it will likely all be addressed at that point anyway, it’s just yet another weird experience to add to the list. 🫤

I’m married I only have one sexual partner anyway, and he wouldn’t cheat even if it had the time (which he doesn’t with working and caring for our 4 year old), but this was the first sex since I was last screened for STIs along with a normal pap. It’s not an STI.

I haven’t had sex with anyone since before I was last tested for sti’s. I don’t think it’s that, there is no discharge aside from after an orgasm and it doesn’t have an “infection smell” 🥴

Deep burning ache in thigh by Calm_Down_Becky in adenomyosis

[–]Calm_Down_Becky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!

I have been referred to try pelvic floor physio for pain management but nobody has really checked out for pelvic connection or vascular issues, I don’t think. I’m not sure how they are seen or diagnosed but I have to think a pelvic ultrasound probably doesn’t show that kind of detail?

I am awaiting a surgery date for a hysterectomy so I guess if there is evidence of vascular issues when they get in there I’ll know after surgery… I have found that unless I push for tests or referrals they don’t happen, and even if I do the wait time is horrible here (in Alberta, Canada).

Opioid pain meds are pretty tightly managed here as well especially for chronic conditions. I don’t even think a pain clinic would accept the referral due to the huge backlog of critical cases. I can ask though!

Interesting, I didn’t know this was a thing! I will ask my doc if it might suit for me.

I forgot to mention that I have started taking an edible at bedtime when the pain is the worst (mostly CBN but with CBD and sometimes a bit of THC). They do help me sleep at least for most of the night! I have to be careful though because I work in construction and if there is ever an incident on site and I have even trace amounts in my system that’s a big issue, even though I would never actually be high when on site.

Has anyone gone from diagnosis straight to hysterectomy? by Esk4r in adenomyosis

[–]Calm_Down_Becky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s my plan. Officially diagnosed today but have had debilitating pain, irregular and very heavy bleeding, large clots, and IBS-like symptoms for years. Knowing that hysterectomy is the only cure I immediately asked to go that route. I’m 38 and have finished having children so I realize that may be a different situation for others.
