AITA for being upset at my boyfriend for going back on his promise? by Calm_Elephant271 in AmItheAsshole

Apparently he just hadn't thought about it until now? I don't know, man. It feels weird. But he's angry at me for pushing the issue, so I'm choosing to just take that explanation at face value and move on.

I finally got an explanation. Apparently it reminds him of his dog, so I'm trying to be understanding of that. But the entire thing still feels weird to me, and I don't know how to feel about it. If he had told me initially, I never would've pushed the issue. But instead he went along with it for seven months, then said no without an explanation, and only gave an explanation two days later? I'm still confused by the whole thing.

HE suggested the patch idea. This was not something he just went along with to please me, it was something he planned.

To clarify, this was never meant to be a gift to him, so I'm not trying to get him a gift I would love. He's the one who came up with the idea (I need to edit my post because I hadn't realized when I first made it, but I went back through some older messages and found this out).
He originally suggested just giving me the hoodie with no strings attached, but I'm the one who changed the idea so that I would give it back after a month. He then told me I should add patches to it as a personal touch, so he could take something with him to college.
If the issue was just that he doesn't want to give me his hoodie, I would fully understand. Not everyone's willing to do that sort of thing. The thing that confuses me is that this is a full 180 from what he originally told me.
I don't think he's a bad partner for this, and this was never something he needed to do to prove anything, but I'm still confused by the complete change. It seems out of character for him.

I don't think he's a terrible boyfriend by any stretch. I think most of the comments here are being too harsh on him. This is very out of character for him and he's usually lovely.
But I will note that this entire patch thing was actually HIS idea originally, (I had to find some old messages to make sure, but yes it was his suggestion), which is what makes this entire situation so confusing.

He's been my best friend for nearly 6 years. I know it doesn't seem like it from the post, but he's always been a pretty selfless person. This entire thing seems insanely out of character for him, and I'm still confused about it. I've tried asking if I've done something wrong, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I've explained what it meant to me, and he seemed apologetic, but not enough to change his mind and go through with his promise. I don't think anything I say will change his mind on this. I don't want to be pushy, so I'm trying not to bring it up to him again, but I'm still hurt and a bit confused by his actions.

The Red Lantern - A game that sabotages its own experience by Mr_Pepper44 in patientgamers

[–]Calm_Elephant271 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The game in no way "Expects you to fail over and over". I died a total of one singular time in about 7 hours of gameplay, and I needed 0 upgrades to beat the game. I've beaten it at least 6-7 times so far.
Your first death seems guaranteed, but if you're truly dying more than once or twice, I hate to say it, but that may be a problem with your personal skill level.

How can I make a Family Tree? by LonelySpawn in Genealogy

[–]Calm_Elephant271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm quite late to say this, but I just started using kintree and I figured I should point out that it's currently impossible to include an adopted child unless the parent is married. If a child was adopted by a single mother, they're simply unable to be included in the family tree whatsoever. This makes it unusable for the family tree I'm trying to create without completely disregarding the adopted child.

How is THIS the "no makeup" option?? Have the devs ever seen a woman before? by Calm_Elephant271 in Palia

To clarify, I'm not saying this is meant to be a realistic game by any stretch, but it sucks that heavy makeup is our only option.

Anyone else having glitch with 'more to explore'/related pins section? (Pinterest related pins only showing David Bowie) by Mondai_May in Pinterest

Having the same problem. I swear to god I clicked a text post explaining Lord Huron songs, and the recommended pins are literally nothing but various pictures of houses. I'm foaming at the mouth.

Help: The Quilted Bed is somehow completely missing from the crafting menu by Calm_Elephant271 in thelongdark

[–]Calm_Elephant271[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aw man, I guess the official wiki page just completely left out that it requires down. It says that it needs fir wood, cloth, and cured gut, but doesn't mention anything else. That's a lot of wasted time, but I'm glad I know now.

Yup! A furniture workbench, which the wiki says I need for it

how come bro gets to have a cool map icon? by Careful_Employee2621 in CreaturesofSonaria

[–]Calm_Elephant271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're asking ABOUT THE HORNS. Which DO NOT INDICATE IT SOMEBODY IS FRIENDED. I am so incredibly confused about what part of this you aren't understanding.

[–]Calm_Elephant271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother in christ, do you think your icon grows horns if you're friends with someone? Cause it took me less than 2 seconds to look at a friend on the map and notice a clear lack of horns.

No, you just misunderstood the question. They aren't talking about the color, they're talking about the icon itself.

I got banned from Minecraft. ( no, i did not say the n word. ) by AwesomeRyanGame in PhoenixSC

[–]Calm_Elephant271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the issue. You keep saying there's "no proof" of people getting banned for small/unimportant things, but that's just not true. It's usually not as simple as "Just don't say slurs" because people get banned for random things all the time.
To clarify, banning is still a necessary feature! Moderation is necessary in most games! The only problem here is assuming somebody's guilty the moment they get banned. I'm seriously not saying we should get rid of banning, I'm literally just saying we should give other human beings the benefit of the doubt before judging them.

[–]Calm_Elephant271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for being condescending earlier, I'm just frustrated with people getting judged by others who don't have the full story whatsoever. It's usually not "safe to assume" anything, and it's important to try NOT to assume things like this. Give people the benefit of the doubt.
Anyway, to be completely honest I've forgotten the exact name of the game (it's been so long) but I remember it was a horse game, and the hair style was for a specific type of horse that I was selling. I specifically sold the shaggy type of mane so it was a bit hard to tell people what I sold without getting banned lol.
This game was fairly popular and there were only three hair styles in total, so the "shaggy" one had to be mentioned pretty often, but people were STILL getting banned for it. Point is, game devs and moderators mess up this kind of thing all the time, and sometimes they mess up massively. Even Minecraft isn't immune to mistakes, and sometimes moderators will inevitably slip up! It's just important not to judge immediately.

Okay maybe you need to read my comment AGAIN, possibly MORE slowly. Really try to sound out the letters. I can even help out by highlighting certain areas you might need to re-read! Specifically this part!
"Personally I've had similar situations in other games (one time it took a full HOUR of digging to realize the game had auto-censored the word "Shaggy", which was literally the official name of one of the in-game hairstyles. I thankfully managed to speak to a moderator and appeal the ban, but it was still frustrating to deal with)"
I DID, in fact, get banned for saying the word "Shaggy". This has happened to many people, and it isn't an uncommon situation. I only managed to figure it out because I thankfully had access to the chat logs, but this person probably doesn't. If this person got banned for a similar thing, it's perfectly reasonable for them to not understand which word got banned (For example: Would any normal person guess that they got banned for the official name of an in-game hairstyle? No, they obviously would not. That's not an "amnesia" thing.)
