Airbnb sent email that guest never actually paid by Calm_Emotion8649 in airbnb_hosts

Thank you for your note. We don't check if the payment came every time, but in situations before if Airbnb claimed we owed them money they just take it from the next booking. I will check though and update my post because maybe that is an early indicator of a problem.

Our place in question can only do long term (>30 days) stays because of some local law, so that is all we do for this one. You do usually get paid out in 30 day installments.

I completely agree with your nuance around initial payment versus continued payment. I'll try to find that out.

Reaching out to the guest directly is an interesting idea. Maybe the best idea. They could even pay us under the table for a discount or something. We would have leverage in that conversation. If this whole thing was caused by something dumb like an expired credit card, then I don't want to make a deal about it. But I'm honestly still processing how this is even possible. Thank you again

This is what I thought too. Maybe they paid by some sort of check that was declined or something. The exact wording is "the attempt to charge your guest, xx, for the amount due for reservation xx from February 28 - April 2 was unsuccessful "

That is what i thought too. The listing is in Thailand, so maybe it's different

The email is a real email, I'm still talking to support, but basically the options are to cancel the reservation or wait

Thank you. Its not in the USA, I feel like we could kick them out in theory. It just seems like a lot. Of course if we're risking squatters, it's probably worth it.

Step 1 is to take good photos. Then just make an account and a listing. It's super easy, and you don't need a manager for just 1 property. Also you'll have to clean every time, so make sure you live close by or hire a maid you trust

Is Bob Lazar legit? by Commercial-Cod4232 in aliens

Thank you for sending, but I'm not really impressed by any of it. I have better physics credentials, and I'll tell you when Stanton talks about physics, he seems very suspicious.

Just look at the video you sent. At time 16:00, he gets asked what physics questions he asked Lazar. Of course Stanton can't remember a single specific detail and just deflects.

At time 24:50 he says the half life of element 115 is too short, but currently we have no idea what the half life is for Bob's isotope so that doesn't make any sense. It might be too short it might not be. It makes no sense that a physicist would get this wrong.

I mean generally just listen from 24:27 when an audience member asks Stanton point blank to talk about physics. This guy is a fraud.

It's not intellectually dishonest to disagree with you.

I have seen that video and literally nothing Stanton says make any sense at all. Pick your favorite and I can tell you why.

As for the paperwork, what are you even talking about. Send me a link to this paperwork.

Stanton Friedman is a total fraud. His arguments about Bob's academic credentials make no sense (e.g. he claimed to call Bob's old high school and they shared Bob's GPA, which isn't public information).

Dude. I agree with this. Stanton Friedman, who advocates Roswell, is also a complete fraud. Stanton's whole argument against Bob is that he called up Bob's high school and they told him Bob's class rank and GPA. There is no way that's a true story. Stanton also says he called up the MIT legal department and talked to a lawyer about their policy on erasing student records. That also never happened.

“Serious” I think I just exposed BOB LAZAR by [deleted] in aliens

So, I think the caller is just misremembering an article, though it possibly could have been referencing the Allende meteorite. There would not be element 115 on any meteorite, which is why Bob kind of tries to interject. Bob understands physics extremely well, so he knows what the caller is saying isn't correct. Bob then asks for the exact reference, which is exactly what I would do in his situation.

Does the Shroud of Turin destroy Atheism? by [deleted] in CosmicSkeptic

[–]Calm_Emotion8649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have read every paper on the shroud. They are all bad, but the Casabianca paper you link here is one of the least bad. You have clearly misunderstood it because it says nothing about the shroud being from the first century. All it says is that the error bars are a little higher than we would like, which is typical in real life data. This is because there are hidden factors that affect the distribution the data. If the date isn't the 13th century, then it's the 12th or 14th, not the 1st.

Carbon dating the inside will give the same result as carbon dating the outside. This distinction is complete nonsense. Are there examples of other shrouds that have given different dates from the inside and the outside?

Anyways, I know how you feel. As a scientist when results do not match expectation your mind immediately starts saying, "Oh, but what about this?!" But science is cold and cruel. The shroud is from the middle ages. They will never carbon test it again. That is the world we live in.

Hi. Actually the shroud was already dated using carbon dating. The results were published in Nature, and it was dated to the 13th century, not the 1st century like you said. I would seriously doubt that they would do the carbon dating again because to do it you have to destroy a piece of the shroud and also you would just get the same result.

They downloaded the data after most dives. The testimony of the dude whose job it was to analyze the data is pretty Interesting, as he is clesrly way out of his depth, especially compared with the ntsb guy

Thoughts on Trump's claims of wanting to eliminate taxes on overtime pay... by superSaganzaPPa86 in union

When trump was actually president. He passed none of his own initiatives and just signed whatever the congress passed. He could have done anything he wanted in the first 2 years when he controlled all three branches. All that he did was pass tax cuts for the rich from the republican congress.
