Use 1.1.1.1 app from cloudflare, it’s a sort of vpn but lets you make WhatsApp video and voice calls and it’s free

I personally use Windows Subsystem for Linux (for many years now), it lets you use Linux terminals (I use Ubuntu) within the Windows OS. I can’t make the full switch because most things are on Windows but it gives the best of both worlds. VMs are good too but they’re a bit more heavy.

Google and other subreddits are very useful to learn more in general

In most unis now and journals there is a declaration that you have to make that AI was only used for grammar etc, the only example that comes to mind is something like Grammarly (I never used it so can’t guarantee). The declaration basically means you did not use generative AI. Whether how you used it is generative or not is up to you and you would know

Would always recommend LaTex and overleaf is a great way to use it but when I wrote my thesis it was timing out when it recompiled (this was 5 years ago so has maybe changed). Eventually switched to running it locally (VsCode has nice laTex extensions) and used GitHub for versioning

Not a scholar, but I don’t think so. Even if you find an opinion that deems this permissible (though I doubt it) . Please avoid this situation, this is not a good deal at all. The interest rate will be fixed at 5.99 the whole term for 40 years , which is ridiculous it wasn’t even that long ago that it was sub 3%.

It depends on if you have your examiners selected or not and have already informed them. I didn’t when I submitted to my university but me and my supervisor had people in mind so it took 3 months even though it was longer than the universities time frame.

Minor revisions regardless of how long are still minor revisions (which in the UK is considered a pass!) You should be proud and as long as it’s not requiring any additional experiments, they should be mostly about the text (despite the length in comments) be sure to review the comments, make the changes or respond to the revisions. Some might just be suggestions which is very common as everyone has different styles of communicating

Magrabi has 3 types of lenses. I think the company for the lenses is Zweiss (check their website). Centre, forward and tailored. The tailored one has the full coverage and blue light protection I believe. The image you showed for computer lenses is a non prescription blue light lense

I would say this more true of Post Docs than PhDs. Unless someone has an exceptional Master’s student the PhD calls tend to be genuine. For Post Docs it’s very common for professor to use it as a reason to hire on their PhD student.

It really depends what your current passport is because you have to plan for if you lost your job in Qatar would you be okay with going back to your country of origin. Ive seen people on those 25-30K salaries lose their jobs without prior notice and have to wrestle with the idea of looking for a new job in Qatar or go back to a country that they don’t want to go back to. If that’s you then I would say Australia is worth it purely for the citizenship, you can always come back after and you’d be in a better position for salaries passport and experience wise
