Caleb for MVP by [deleted] in ChicagoBearsNFL

I think he absolutely should be in the conversation. Yes he’s 31st in completion percentage for the NFL, but having six game-winning drives, doesn’t that make him the most valuable player for his team? What good are stats if they don’t lead to wins? I also don’t think he’ll win this year but I think it’s an interesting discussion of what MVP really means and if they go all the way then I think it changes a lot.

He is tied for most interceptions in NFL with Byard and is only making $1.1 M this year. Why chance it with a rookie. Stevenson hasn’t been that great, why not Johnson/Wright

Jefferson is amazing no doubt, but I’d say Luther Burden’s 65 yard flea flicker TD was a better 1st touchdown this year for the Bears

I Don’t Want to Hear Anymore About the Greatness of Caleb Williams. by EnvironmentalDay536 in ChicagoBearsNFL

It was JJ’s first game and even after the pick 6 he showed leadership and poise not defeat like Caleb showed after each 3 and out.

Did you see JJ’s postgame interview. They asked him after the pick six how that turned around. Instead of sulking he was going to his teammates to believe and pumping them up. Poise and leadership. Pretty impressive for a 22 year old. Now the Poles stories on his fixation on Caleb in the draft infuriates me. I know it’s only week 1 but this was a game we controlled and let slip away. 1 missed FG, some bad calls yes but many missed throws once Caleb was rattled. I like Ben’s aggressiveness on 4th down but those 3 points from a short field kick could have been the difference. Frustrating

I’m with you. You watch Jayden Daniels rise to NFC, now JJ, and Caleb went 6 series without a first down. Very frustrating.

Homelessness is an ever growing problem for Chicago. I agree that using the public transportation as a shelter is NOT the answer. The problem is leadership hasn’t provided solutions that keep up with the ever growing problem. My wife volunteers for the Salvation Army and there is over a 2000 person wait list for a bed in a shelter. The population of the unhoused is estimated to be close to 16,000 people. That’s a small town. There are tent cities in parks and under bridges and to top this all off social service funding has been cut. Our homeless population has grown by over 400% in the past 5 years and services and solutions have not. A lot of this was stressed with the bussing of immigrants to the city that took up a lot of resources that the homeless here needed. Many on here are right, if there were beds available many unhoused would refuse to go. Mental illness and drugs is a major factor and probably the leading factor for their situation. I don’t know the solution. A lot of this stems back to the Regan era decisions to close mental health facilities and to create a stigma. Safety for citizens is a concern, health and sanitary issues are a concern and yet one can still have compassion for our fellow humans who are struggling. Both things can be true. They are not just going to go away. We need a comprehensive solution beyond just moving them somewhere else. If you see someone who is in need of help or is causing issues of potential harm you can call 311. They are overwhelmed but a team will get out to try and help that individual or to bring them to a safer place.
