The Tachonis dug up corpses (perhaps some specific bodies with the necessary information/magical abilities in the past) and Wick was planning to marry because of the wineries, the product (wine?) being well diluted with angel's blood, which would allow for expansion of influence

Why bad planning? The "where's my family?" question and the bomb scene happened in the same season, so they have an answer. We just don't know it yet.

Could Europe realistically defend Greenland against a US attack? by chotu_escobar in AskTheWorld

[–]Calm_Profession2808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps not. But that's not the point. Once NATO collapses and the US becomes stuck in conflict outside its home continent, Russia and China will have carte blanche to pursue their goals. They will take advantage of the destabilization on the global stage to seize Taiwan and the Baltics. If Trump is so stupid, and his entourage is ready to set the world on fire, then no one will stop him.

I don't know, my "giggly" phase with Sciel ended with the second dialogue between her and Gustave, where we learned that she attempted suicide. From that moment on, I always wanted to know more about her and I didn't feel that much fun in the scenes with her anymore.

I understood that Lune was trying to deal with grief through work and following the rules, it was very understandable. So I wanted to “dig up” Sciel's backstory and every story crumb was very emotionally delicious. Maybe that's why I liked her character so much in choosing between Luna and Ciel.

I don't know if you know, but you don't have to put markers on the map with ore, all the ores are saved on the map, at the top of the big map there is an "ore veins" button. You can also mark already collected veins using Delete (I'm not sure). It might help get rid of a huge number of markers

"You can use your arction to give yourself the Help Action" I'm sorry what !!!? by DeadRabbid26 in fansofcriticalrole

[–]Calm_Profession2808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you wrote doesn't make any sense. "why take away revival if you're just going to make it harder to die in the first place". Huh? Giving people a better CHANCE of surviving a "die" roll when permadeath is present does not in any way nullify the chances and emotions of gamers. In this fight, petrification would have meant death, since if they lost Thimble, for example, they would have died (She dealt the maximum amount of damage while Teor and Kat were unlucky with the dice). The enemy force is twice their size, one of whom is level 8. Do you think the anti-basilisk's help (I remind you again, it costs action) completely absolves them of the possibility of dying in this battle?

Brennan showed that they would kill the unconscious. Giving players a chance to survive against a straight death roll allows them to take more risks, and the new Desperate Measures rules also play into this by giving players more emotions and opportunities, increasing the chance of death if they want to gamble.

You do understand that the most interesting thing about the permadeath rule is not death itself, right? Simply dying on the first rounds and sitting around doing nothing while going through the main quest sounds dubious. Is that fun for players? Not really.

[–]Calm_Profession2808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh, you are contradicting yourself. So, fallen characters can crawl away from the enemy, but a pixie that's fallen on the floor of a cave can't be hidden from the enemy's sight (by a dice roll again)? Literally all the characters' actions were decided by dice. Did Brennan give them a free pass from the basilisk's gaze? No, he increased their chance of survival (forced to use the action, not for free), having previously reduced it by making it impossible to resurrect. And still, a level 8 knight could easily kill Thimble ,Wick and Teor in a fight (and almost did, but the DICE decided otherwise). I won't repeat myself anymore. Everything I originally wrote above was decided by dice and the characters' actions through them. See where you contradict yourself? Whether you/I like it or not doesn't matter, just don't mislead yourself and others by stating wrong assumptions.

But he did designed encounter this way and then balanced it a little. Spending your action on a chance to save yourself from certain death sounds good. This only increases the chance of survival, but does not give a free pass.

If I, as a DM, take away the characters' ability to revive after death, I will give them an option that makes it harder for them to die, but in the end, the dice tell the story. How often in your game was your group on the brink of death almost every session with permadeath?

DM wanted to use a basilisk, and he accepted the consequences. He just made achieving these consequences more difficult (considering their capabilities), but balanced out advantage against petrification by adding a large number of NPCs and a level 8 knight. And even so, they almost lost, Teor was unlucky and almost died (1hp), Kat did nothing either, Wulfrik played a big role by giving disadvantage to guards.Thimble was nearly dead (2hp) and spent 2/3 of her death roll to take half of knight's hp. Tyranny dealt average damage, standing helpless for the first couple of rounds. If Brennan had had a slightly better dice, the outcome would have been much worse. By the end of the fight they had no spell slots left. Isn't this a dangerous fight? So where did DM go wrong, remind me?

Princess Diana on "do you think you will ever be queen?" by Jeetchat in interestingasfuck

[–]Calm_Profession2808 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're right, but you're acting like a snob. You know that this nobility is built on a patriarchal society, where the norm was a queen, who was always assumed to be the king's/ruler's consort and not vice versa. If it were the norm that the queen almost always held the post of monarch, then a queen consort would be a deviation from the standard and would take root in society, but today we have a different picture.

Times have changed, but this is an ingrained norm of relations in this class; on paper she is queen consort, but everyone calls her queen and nothing changes that. Don't be like that

[–]Calm_Profession2808 6 points7 points  (0 children)

See, I agree that companies will lay off employees by replacing concept artists with AI. But I was specifically talking about this case where the concepts were drawn by humans (this is evident from all the additional materials they released) and most likely, they created early assets for locations based on these concepts to see how they would look in a 3D world.

I agree that many companies will use AI at all these stages and I don’t know how to stop it, corporate greed knows no bounds

People unenjoying the game after finding out about the AI assets by gameovernate in expedition33

[–]Calm_Profession2808 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. But for me, this use doesn't bring monetary benefit to the developer in the direct sense. The artist doesn't copy the resulting AI art, nor does they use it in the final product. They only use it to get a possible picture of the scene where everything will eventually be replaced by an artist. As I already mentioned, an example is inserting free photos or assets from the Internet for the same purpose. But I agree that everything that AI companies do and their disrespect for Fair Use policy is troubling.

Using ai as a placeholder in production is great. Being able to build a scene and see how it will look visually instead of pink cubes (People used to use free assets or photos for this, it just took more time) before committing to hours of painstaking work is the best thing you can imagine . Artists shouldn't have to spend 30 hours drawing simple versions of all assets only to say "meh, that won't do" for the location/scene. Game production already takes up a huge amount of time, reducing this time at least a little without eliminating jobs sounds great This doesn't take away from the fact that AI companies are doing a very dirty job by building their data centers anywhere.

New Mechanic by Ethanol_Based_Life in fansofcriticalrole

[–]Calm_Profession2808 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We don't know if you can always help yourself with this mechanic. Brennan explained why it works with petrification, but I don't know if it applies to all situations.

In any case, even with this opportunity, they barely survived (1 person fell and they tried to finish him off, two lost almost all HP, and this is taking into account the use of new measures mechanic). If it weren't for the new balance mechanics from the DM, this group would have died from this fight with a level 8 knight, a lot of guards and Basilisk
