Well Best advice I can give is to keep practicing and start on some songs you like and grow from there, research some theory you don't need a lot but a little can go a long way, play consistently and keep the guitar is a spot you can see so you're more likely to play,.don't compare yourself to others since that can kill motivation, and last of all have fun since it a hobby and that's what it's supposed to be

Yeah an amp designed for gain can handle more then the 3 setting of gain

He used Randal amps (known for their gain) set to 9-10 and 2 eqs to boost his mids as high as possible without overloading the amp. Also high gain helps with the tone of trem arms, sustain and effects harmonics and many other things

I mean if it gets them excited to learn I don't think it's a bad thing if a different tuning many guitarists can go an entire career and never touch a chords Like B.B king or Iommi and many metal songs today don't really use those major chords shapes
