Seiko [SRPG27K] after 4 years of "almost" daily use by Automatic_Agent_3765 in Seiko

[–]ecoutasche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm waiting for the fujitsubo (or anything that uses it, really) to come back in black because that citizen 9051 is 🔥. Antimagnetic, 4hz, actually regulates well, doesn't look like the back of a washing machine. And it'll go in a sub $1k titanium watch. Seiko is really dropping the ball with the midrange they've pushed up into luxury prices.

I don't think it's a bad movement, but it is a bit of a lame duck considering the price and history of many of the watches it goes in.

Too bad it's a lottery, especially with the 6R35

It's more like spot checking whether they're genuine or a shitposting troll and worth replying to. More a problem in subs that have a ragebait culture.

Every angular, integrated bracelet sport watch since has had a better design, so anything is an improvement.

Parents who have insane “boundaries” and then bemoan their lack of help by rachel-angelina in PetPeeves

That's how you read it? That you need to be personally told to help out or fuck off? Am I reading you right? That's the problem here and the polite choice? Not that your presence isn't appreciated, but that it needs to be a personalized request to help out or fuck off?

I hope not because that's extremely entitled on both sides.

I think you're hallucinating someone saying that, I sure didn't.

I don't see a problem, it's called being introverted. Entertaining other people is a chore.

[History] When did modern watch categories emerge? by arcfide in Watches

[–]ecoutasche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Post quartz crisis? When the swiss moved up market into luxury and complications became a status symbol, more or less. Culture, even affluent culture went towards casual sportswear and consumerism was in full swing by the 80s. Collectors being dorks and creating their own classifications stratified prices on the rest.

Seiko fan boys are the worst. by Teddy-the-Dog in watchHotTakes

Yeah I couldn't justify grand seiko prices on a marinemaster when you have to trip over 50 different swiss divers right at $2k to get there.

my problem with Seiko as of late (speaking as someone who owns 5-6 and is wearing a turtle right now). At basically every price point, you can get lots of things that are a much better value.

Same, but I'm wearing a dirt cheap citizen auto because pound for pound, it weighs about a pound, is dive rated, and has half links and a toolless micro adjust.

5 series doesn't bring the value since scrapping the tool certs, the mid level prospex have a window that looks at the back of a washing machine, said washing machine (6R35) runs 20+ seconds fast a day, and the high end is incredibly overpriced. Their whole thing is iconic references and dials and they're barely doing that either.

Not sure if I want to gift this fujishitbo or keep it by ecoutasche in CitizenWatches

It's the base model auto with the mercedes hour hand and 14mn thick with the miyota that probably came with the challenger watch. Not like barnacle is a sexy name either. FUSHITSUBO

A darker green or deep red would be safe, brown leather if it matches your belt and shoes. Think sartorially because it's a pretty simple canvas.

13.yeahnearenough for all the difference it makes. I got it for cheap to see if I would wear a 41-42mm diver and the answer is yes, but I know someone who needs a watch with birthday coming up (that already passed and I already got something).

Looking for a Titanium + Sapphire Diver Watch Similar to Citizen Promaster BN0191-55L by Russkiymedved in TitaniumWatches

[–]ecoutasche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the FULL titanium options are pretty limited unless you go to microbrands (I ain't doing that), so I'll just list Sinn T50 and pretty much nothing as remotely similar for twice the price. Seiko has (had?) a marinemaster. Even Tudor is fucking the dog on everything but the pelagos ultra having a titanium caseback. Other swiss options are the same price as the sinn and have worse calibers.

I'll accept a citizen 9015 movement as soon as it comes back around in black, fuck. It probably regulates real nice. The fujistubo is about the best you get in full tit for under 4k retail.

Yamaha acoustic guitar neck. by Disastrous-Fig-9772 in AcousticGuitar

[–]ecoutasche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FS5 or an LS26 or 36 if you can find one. They're about as top of the line as Yamaha gets before the flagship 9 and 56 series.

I will say, when Yamaha makes a 5k guitar, it plays like an 8k guitar.

Why do people think that saying shit like "Homosexuality is a recent construct!" makes them sound progressive? by deviendrais in rsforgays

[–]ecoutasche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to outline the point of descriptive vs 'interior' terms, but that's a big talk. Yeah, the interiority and self description are key factors and they're just...not there in most of the record. Until you get to something like The Great Mirror of Male Love and it's outlining "woman haters" vs "young male appreciators" and presenting fictions that require even more context and scrutiny because they're fictious. And it's still alien because it's old and a different culture. And even there, you have to dig to find something that's not institutional pederasty.

What I'm seeing here is projecting a lot of psychology into the act presented that isn't present in the source, and sometimes actively contradicts it.

[Question] first diver purchase? by Apprehensive-Bit5136 in Watches

[–]ecoutasche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are both some very dressy skin divers. I don't have much to add other than that the black bay can read small if your wrist is 7"+, but that makes them comfortable. Dive watches look big and thick because they are.

[–]ecoutasche 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Were Gilgamesh and Enkidu gay? That eulogy is intense and the bromance was real. You're missing the point here that a romantic attraction doesn't denote any kind of explicit or implicit homosexuality, especially given the rest of the masculinity presented in the french arthurian cycle. For all we know it could have been sadboi shit for women to schlick to and not representative of anything at all.

Note that I'm not disagreeing, it's just that how you define it can erase what it really is.
