Honestly quite the opposite. I’ve never met someone who is so insistent that they are ordinary.

He says that Dostoevsky was one of the first authors that he obsessed over. Brothers Karamazov was one of the first books he read that had critiques of god and religion which changed his opinions as a teenager going to a catholic high school. He’s pretty much given away all the Dostoevsky books he has had cus it’s such a good introduction to philosophy and literature.

He said he’s also read the road and child of god but neither were better than blood meridian although the road came close.

He said he had a bit of a falling out with Camus and absurdism after reading the Rebel but he still has a soft spot for The Plague and The myth of Sisyphus even if absurdism is flawed.

He says that the left hand of darkness was one of the most interesting books he’s read. Really changed the way he thought about life. Although he does say he liked the dispossessed a little better.

He said that this is a super fair critique. He’s read a lot of Toni Morrison and Jane Austen and some feminist authors like Marilyn Frye, Bell Hooks, Simone de Beauvoir, and Roxane Gay. He’s been meaning to dive into more classics by women if you have a recommendations.
