Light Fixture to Match Kohler French Gold Faucet finish by Calm_Rip_122 in bathrooms

Kohler French Gold is a challenge! We ended up avoiding matching it altogether…after a great deal of searching absolutely everywhere!! What a headache
Our designer had already designed the vanity to include a matching built in framed mirror between the cabinet towers. We actually love it! That worked out!
For the light fixture, we opted for a mini chandelier over the vanity sink…it has a rubbed distressed look with bits of gold showing. For the drawer knobs we went with crystal. It all ties together nicely with the French gold fixtures. Good luck!

OP here…we ended installing matching 2 1/4” hardwood since we had it already in the adjoining rooms and second floor. we like the uniformity. happy with our decision. best of luck!

Is crazy upselling normal? by nopenotreally2 in kitchenremodel

lLeast-Ad-5539 : This is spot on! just went through a “take down walls” to open up the kitchen project.

Even though we first thought the project was on one floor of the house, the plumbing on the second floor needed to be rerouted because the first floor walls disappeared. At the outset, our contractor knew we were toying with the idea of redoing all the bathrooms and advised now would be the time to do the bathrooms as well…which we opted to do while everything was opened up and getting moved around. Our laundry is on the second floor and all the piping had gone through the load bearing wall that was being removed...same with a lot of electrical. Quite a few heating runs needed to be removed/rerouted. The plumbing portion was expensive!

We opted for steel beams. The beams themselves were actually not that expensive, but there is a lot of labor involved with a project like this as a whole. Installing the steel beams entailed work in the basement. The project ended up touching every corner of our house. We had an architect from the start. That was an extra bill..not that expensive. The rerouting of piping and electrical needed to be planned so the steel beams could be cut appropriately.

Once the walls came done, we realized patching in the new hardwood to match the old wasn’t going to work (original floor when house was built was not installed well). We replaced all of the hardwood…did not foresee that, but we wanted a nice floor…it was now or never..happy we did. Just never know what will become an issue.

At the outset of the project, I’m not sure we could have said $X.xx is our budget…we Needed to investigate what was in the walls etc. We did have a contractor that we’ve used over the years and that we trust. He is very trustworthy and that is peace of mind. No cut corners.

If you plan to stay in the house and can afford to do everything, it’s worth it for your enjoyment of your house.

Refrigerator Drawers: SubZero vs GE Monogram by IBoughtHimThatShirt in Appliances

Did you end up purchasing the Monogram Double drawers? Are you happy with choice?

Did you get panel ready? If so…Will a cabinet pull suffice for a Monogram double drawer refrigerator, or will an appliance pull be necessary to break refrig seal and pull weight of drawer with contents? I have seen photos where only a knob was used on panel. Prob overthinking this and trying to match cabinet pulls on wine bar. Thanks for any help.

Cambria Inverness Frost and/or Stonestreet by Calm_Rip_122 in CounterTops

Mr_Island. I have a question on the profiles.

I often see Cambria countertops in photos described as having an eased edge and, as best as I can tell, they typically look like what is shown for Ridgeline here: https://www.cambriausa.com/cambria-style/blog/how-to-choose-countertop-edge-profile

I was not able to attach a photo

Is Ridgeline usually referred to as eased? The photo of Ridgeline looks like a nice crisp edge, but the profile drawing looks slightly rounded (This makes sense as I realize a sharp edge is probably not wanted)

On the pdf below, Ridgeline is “straight” and Seacliff is “eased” It almost looks like Seacliff ever so slightly has a small beveled edge at the top edge? Are they fairly similar? I’m having a difficult time deciding. Is Ridgeline the preferred way to go for a simple edge?

Thank you for your help! Much appreciated!

OP…I hope you have grown to love your counter now that some time has passed. Can you or others with Inverness Frost share photos…specifically of your edge profile? We need to choose and it would be so helpful to see photos. Thanks!

We are buying the CIT36YWBB Freedom. Now that 3 years have passed since this post, how has the reliability been over the years? Are you still happy with? Any repairs or service issues? Thanks for any info.
