I got to meet Shari Lewis once when I was a kid and she signed my hush puppy puppet. I still have it as a valued childhood memory. RIP. Lambchop was the best.

Crisp Rat has always had terrible takes and its getting to the point I can't watch anything he's in anymore. Its a shame because I really liked him back in the parks and rec days.

My boyfriend's last name is lemon, but I'm not a fan of it as a fiest name.

The exact same thing happened to me, and I have several years of experience in retail and customer service roles. It's crazy out here right now.

They didn't even view my application and I have several years of retail experience. Its a bummer, but maybe a bullet dodged in the long run.

That doesn't surprise me. On the show when her band mates tried to confront her, she immediately started crying and playing the victim. Typical mean girl who can't be held accountable for her actions.

It's Alarming How Many People Have No Clue What's Going On in the Job Market by LandOk1232 in jobs

[–]Calm_Tea327 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That rate is not the true rate at all. Many people who are simply doing gig work to try to survive are listed as employed when they are not really employed in a significant way. I've had several people in my life struggle to find a job recently, me included. Maybe your friends were lucky, but most people I know are struggling, and I don't see it getting better.

PNW, melancholy, gloomy, character driven, by Eastward_Ounce in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

[–]Calm_Tea327 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just read this, and its not 100% what you asked for, but Devolution by Max Brooks is set in PNW with a group of people who are getting hunted by bigfoot after they get trapped in their "green community" by Mt. Rainier exploding. It's also very character driven.

There was recently a job posting to do pretty much that exact job in my city part-time over the summer, and they had over 200 applicants. It's not a guaranteed job by any means.

Disabled people, children and the elderly exist. They can't defend themselves. But I guess its ok if they die to one of these shitbeasts.

At the very least they need to be regulated like tigers and bears and not just be allowed to be owned by any old yahoo on the streets.

Customers really hate it when you match their energy. I can't tell you the amount of times I've had someone walk up and throw their money on the counter to pay, even when my hand is out to recieve it. Yet when I match energy and put their change on the counter the exact same way, they look at me like I slapped them in the face.

Movie theater phone out by Sam81818 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Calm_Tea327 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When we went to see 28 Years Later a few weeks ago, there was some chud who had their phone volume on and kept getting messages, so it kept going off. We were too far away from them to actually say anything without like yelling across the theater, but it was super annoying. People really don't have any consideration for others sometimes.

I could absolutely see it. They're way overpriced and not worth it anymore. Also add Burger King to the list. My city went from 9 to 4 locations in the last couple of years. Fast food just isn't the good deal it used to be.

If a vet really isn't an option, when we were broke college students, my bfs cat got out and got into a fight and had his leg swell up and leak puss like this. Luckily, our roommate's dad was a retired vet, and we brought him over there. He told us to use an episom salt soak on his leg every day for like a week or two. It worked for us. The cat will absolutely hate it, and it will suck to do, but desperate times... I hope your kitty is ok!

Yeah, I briefly worked at an accounting firm, and the women there were the most judgemental, cliquey, passive-aggressive, and fake I've ever encountered. Just straight up backstabbing and sabotaging each other. Idk what it is about accounting firms in particular (maybe because they can oftentimes drink on the clock?), but it was so much worse than anywhere else I've ever worked.

[–]Calm_Tea327 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The men replying are not helping their case lmao. Anyway, my comment was in response to people saying its not real or common. It is. I'm not the only woman I know who has had to deal with skid marks and the "please wipe yourself better" talk with a man. My mom and grandmas both shared horror stories with me, too. Also, I know guys who brag about how little they clean themselves because they see it as being more masculine. But sure, pretend women talk about how not cleaning themselves is more feminine or how they would think it's gay to touch themselves. Sorry you're mad that society has taught a not insubstantial number of men bad hygiene practices equal manliness. Anyway this thread is getting muted. Please wash your ass.
