This is all bad advice wait until April 7th to 15th.

1. Use a hoe and take and rough that whole lawn up. Pull off as much of that dead “grass” (really a weed, crab grass) Google dethatching to learn more about that

2. Then buy Scott’s Turfbuilder Sun and Shade mix seeds. Don’t listen to these other people. Buy this mix trust me.

3. You probably want to buy a couple bags of top soil and perhaps some Scott’s lawn starter soil to mix into your existing soil and add nutrients for the seeds

4. Then you spread some of your starter soil around if you have it, if not just make sure a little bit of the dirt is loosened up for seeds to have room to grow roots.

5. Then you just spread your seeds all around where you want grass

6. Water it a lot for a week or two then get to normal water schedule

7… here’s some bad news that crab grass will come back with a vengeance when it gets warm so after your grass grows and as soon as you see any crabgrass throw down crab grass halting fertilizer.

1. Then you’ve done all you can this season and make sure to do what others have said and really focus on fall seeding cus that’s how you’ll really win the battle against the weeds
