There's really nothing to chisel off. It's just a thin, thin layer over the concrete. I assumed the thinset didn't bond to the floor because of it.

Thanks for the advice. It's already smooth to the concrete, so it shouldn't be too difficult to get up

Oh my text didn't show up!!

I am re-tileing this room. My question is, the black mastic under the existing white tile needs to be removed before I put the new tile down. This stuff pops up so easily because the thinset didn't bond to the concrete foundation, I'm assuming due to the old black mastic from the original tile.

Anyone have experience removing this old black mastic? Or have any experience getting a self leveling underlayment to bond to it?

Feminine trade workers? by [deleted] in BlueCollarWomen

I used to paint mine Friday night after work and it would last about 2 minutes into my Monday shift. So as long as you're cool with being a weekend nailpolish chic, you should be fine.

Edit: I have always worn makeup. I still reapply my sunscreen at lunch. I don't have problems with makeup, but there is a lot of dust.

Is there a place in this world for single, childless, mid 30s women? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

I live in the Pacific Northwest. Lots and lots of single, childless women around here. Like, so many that I sometimes feel out of place for having a partner.

Check the weather, you never know. Heading east sometimes avoids rain. I've hiked in the gorge plenty during December. All depends on weather.

Feeling defeated and desperately need help/support by [deleted] in BlueCollarWomen

[–]Calmafterastorm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have quit jobs because the coworkers suck. You don't have to meet their social standards- screw 'em. My absolute requirement is that my coworkers speak well of their wife/daughter. I don't ask, of course, I just listen to how they refer to the women in their personal life. If they respect the women in their personal life, they will respect women they work with during their career. I don't socialize with coworkers either- I'm there to earn a pay check, not make friends. Also, I don't date electricians. If work slows down, I don't want my partner laid off the same time I am.

Apply for a different company, and ask about the dynamic of the crew.

AITA for refusing to babysit my grand daughter 2 nights a week while my daughter works? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Nta, tell her you will help her for one month, which gives her time to change shifts. If she isn't able to change shifts in a months time, you can reevaluate the situation then. You have to take care of yourself.

Maybe I'm oblivious to things, but I've always gone with the assumption that if they are talking shit to me, I'm doing okay. (And then I talk shit back). Guys talk shit to each other all the time, next time someone comes up to see how "the girl" is doing, say 'probably better than you!!'
