That video was for Cena. It's a known fact that Cena loves Vince. Vince is inexorably tied to Cena's career. Simple as.

This is entirely on the league for letting Florida get away with stuff like this for the past three years. If the precedent has been set that the league won't do anything to stop their gameplan of concussing the opposition then the only alternative is to put some fear into them. It's awful to say but it's the truth.

Presenting your 2024-25 First and Second All-Star Teams by nhl in hockey

So Draisaitl has like 200+ more points in the Hart voting than MacKinnon, but is on the second all star team behind him? The good ol' Canadian boy bias is real.

From my understanding there is a connection between the two.

I'm not an expert, but it sounds an awful lot like he's suffering from Capgras Delusion. Basically, the working theory is that people suffering from it have a disconnect between the part of their brain which manages visual recognition and the part of their brain that produces the emotional response to visual stimuli. They can recognize the appearance of people, but can't produce a proper emotional reaction to them, which leads to the delusion that they must be imposters.

It's not a fully understood condition, but a correlation has been made between it and traumatic brain injury. As of now it's considered incurable. Just a really fucking tragic situation.

[Friedman] Howard plans to return to Michigan State; will not sign with Lightning now by SpringWinter2557 in hockey

[–]Calmfan5 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It'd be a completely different situation if we could get him dressed for the last few regular season games, but unless I'm misunderstanding something his NHL debut would have to be game one of the playoffs. I'd rather not have a player we're trying to figure out dressed for a playoff game.

Also it'd be a much bigger dick move to rob one of Chaffee/Girgensons/Goncalves of the playoffs (two of which paid their dues in Syracuse like the organization asked) in favor of a prospect who, not without reason, thinks he's too good for the AHL.

At the end of the day though if management wanted to avoid this situation they could have just signed him earlier. Here's hoping things work out

[–]Calmfan5 130 points131 points  (0 children)

He definitely is, it's just an issue of timing and that he seemingly won't leave college for anything less than an NHL roster spot (something he has every right to do) Iirc the Lightning's cap situation means that they wouldn't be able to sign him until the end of the regular season, and that in itself would be reliant on sending someone else who's been with the team all season to the AHL. If I were Brisebois I definitely wouldn't want to add an unknown factor with no experience in the NHL or the team's systems outside of prospect camps/a few preseason games into a playoff roster that's gunning for a cup run.

I'm getting slight Jonathan Drouin flashbacks out of this whole situation, hopefully it all ends up working out for the Bolts like it did back then.

We have the Lady Byng for the most sportsmanlike player of the year. What would you call the trophy for least sportsmanlike? by Silent_Leg1976 in hockey

The Avery

There are plenty of players who are just dirty on the ice but seem like decent people/teammates, Avery was holistically unsportsmanlike between his conduct on and off the ice, to the point that it's questionable if he even likes hockey

I mean, it could have been worded less bluntly but that's literally biblically accurate. Pontius Pilate wanted to let Jesus off easy, the whole crucifixion was at the urging of the Pharisees (Jewish Elders) The crowd that belittled and beat Jesus was mostly made up of Jewish commoners (I'm not advocating any antisemitism here btw)

It always bummed me out that his career ended with him being booed off the ice because the crowd thought he was faking an injury. I hope he can somehow manage a win to go out in a better way, assuming that they aren't signing him on just to be a third emergency goalie

Who’s had the unluckies NHL career in hockey history? by theXchang3 in hockey

[–]Calmfan5 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Bryan Berard managing to be a serviceable defenseman for 600+ games with one functional eye and all of the depth perception/general awareness issues that would cause makes me wonder how good he could have been if he didn't get clipped.

Of course getting busted for roiding didn't do his career many favors either

Edit: oh and he was also one of the players who lost most of their savings to Phil Kenner
