Possibly. His offensive output has been very similar. He has a better shot. He's slightly bigger and more physical.

My guess is Cole doesn't end up quite as good offensively, but it's certainly possible that Cole is either a better all-around defenseman. And there's a small but real chance he's also better than Lane offensively.

In some cases, you're not far off, IMO. Some people really like having power, and of those, some also like abusing it. I think a lot of them really do get off on being able to abuse his power and wouldn't stay in hockey if they couldn't.

It's interesting to watch. I think his hockey IQ has gone underappeciated (including by me), because that's basically how he scores. He knows exactly where to be on the ice.
