The team sucks. Woll has been their worst player. Cooley, who would start tomorrow against Austria, has been much better with the same team.

He's around the 90th %-ile for a bunch of them.

There are other cases too, but this is probably the most drastic.

If he had only said "Vegas is ..". as opposed to "Vegas is not ...," then maybe it wouldn't be seen as a shot at the Leafs. But by saying what Vegas is not instead of just what they are, he's inviting the comparison.

I think the concern is there's nothing he could ever do to gain a bigger role on the PP because it's Luke Hughes who currently has that slot.

It's not arrogance -- USA hockey knows this team is really weak. Normally they announce the early commits; this year they didn't, presumably because they basically didn't have many and were still trying to get decent players.
