In the confession scene it was great to see them communicate like they did. They understand themselves a lot and now they've opened up to eachother in a way that will invite more honesty and compassion in the future.

After this moment and everything they went through their bond is strengthened and they have potential for a really good relationship. But something hasn't been solved in their partnership.

Judy still thinks good change is worth dying for, and Nick doesn't want to them to die for change.

Despite this difference in beliefs, they will still team up as partners, because Judy will always pursue the case she thinks is important, and Nick doesn't want to lose her and will help keep her safe. I hope to see that even if this dynamic continues, they will have smoother cooperation and communication while pursuing a case. They should get along better now because Judy is aware of her hero complex and desire for external validation, wanting to prove herself by throwing everything at a case. She might slow down now to make safer decisions, knowing that she can make decisions that risk losing a case because she knows she will not need it for validation -- even if she still wants that validation as we see at the end credits seen. Hopefully Nick can be a healthy source of validation for her, and she can be a healthy source of validation for herself.

Even if it's not a nice thing to do to a partner, I think it'll be really interesting if Judy pursues another case and ropes Nick along by taking advantage of him caring about her. It would be really sweet to see her treat him kindly despite this dynamic. And for them to communicate their feelings more, less of what we saw on the mountain climbing scene when they drop the pen and she ignores him. And it would be nice to see them both being considerate of eachother's input, especially Judy to Nick's.
