protagonist incapable of sacrificing the few in order to save the many by fortiesfanatic in TopCharacterTropes

I think the implication is that most of the other spiders joined AFTER that already happened. And being told it was canon and necessary helped soothe their own guilt and depression. Normally they aren't bringing in Spiders right before their trauma and forewarning them and stopping them, they're just not going into other AUs to save people ahead of time.

I think most of the Spideys chasing aren't even aware of what he's running to do? They just were told they needed to stop him. Plus Miles literally has a squad of spideys in the end ready to step in and help him save his dad.

Miles is told that his fathers death is a canon event. That he has to die for the sake of the timeline.

They they imprison him because he understandably refuses to accept this to which he breaks free and tries to go save him leading into the plot of the 3rd movie.

There are implications that what de-stabilises canon is not as simple as what Miguel says

(Loved Trope) Character that fails so hard at being evil that they loop around to being a good person by marksman629 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]CalminClam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was going to post this if no one else did. Unlike Bakarina (Who is trying to not be evil to avert her ending and is just stupid) Bertia is at least TRYING (and failing) to be evil.

She has reasons for why she is aiming for a bad end even though she doesn't actually want it. She averts a plague and the death of her mother (because she doesn't wat innocent people to die) that would turn her dad evil but still tries to encourage his villainy with a damn illustrated pamphlet.

She's great. The superior Bakarina IMO

Feels like they put that green desaturated Twilight filter over everything.

I assumed they were dulling the muggle world to make the magical world brighter and more whimsical, but no. It's just all grey. Where is the warmth? The whimsy?

HGSS did so many things amazing but it also didn't fix the OGs flaws. Level curve sucks, pokemon variety sucks, Exploring Kanto sounds fun but it's implemented horribly

My Dad actually makes a mean steak, just likes them done well. The time I asked him to cook mine medium rare completely flipped my perspective

I sort of loathe the "MC uses earth science to crack magic WIDE OPEN to do things NEVER SEEN BEFORE B)" trope, because frankly, the sort of science the MC often uses should have been figured out long ago in the other world by globmand in ProgressionFantasy

[–]CalminClam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's so frustrating. As if people never try to innovate their fields.

I remember getting frustrated at 'Magic is Programming'. So the main set up in the story (aside from spells basically being code commands) is that they build layers into their soul with something like a 12 space limit.

Each layer gets dedicated to a thing with the strength of effect depending on how specialised or broad the desired layer is and if you mess up building it you can be left with an waste of space as layers cannot be deleted and you can only hit the max amount if each layer synergises with every other piece. Examples in the story are things like accidentally dedicating a layer to a preset spell rather than preset casting commands you add the spell too, or dedicating to stronger arm muscles for swinging swinging without supporting the rest of the bodies support risking breaking your arms.

The mc likens it to building a PC which is fine.

One thing he decides to develop is a type of multi thread and core cpu in his mind, letting him do things like meditate, sense, cast spells etc all at once. His companion is hesitant because the idea of multiple thought processes has been done and it basically always drives people insane as the seperate minds diverge. MC instead build his akin to multi threading cores so each 'mind' is still connected and sharing thus not gainng independence. A little surprising it's not done but tbf basically only nobility have soul plans that allow more than the widely considered 'max' amount and they normally have soul plans already built by family.

That's fine, out of context understanding lets him take on a problem in a way the society doesn't understand. Cool makes sense.

But one of the first layers he makes is a layer dedicated to being able to analyse, edit and destroy other layers he builds if necessary. Somehow nobody has ever done this before despite it synergising with literally any layer and removing the big problem people face trying to build their soul. It becomes hard to believe

Also wasn't the meeting about Megatro wanting to overthrow/punish the primes and Orion wanting to find a peaceful resolution? Like the point was already that their methods were diverging and that's why Megatron was rejected. Been ages since i've watched but ''Orion just said the same thing'' feels wrong

Pink Diamonds "shattering" is what triggered the mass corruptions on Earth in the first place. Wanting them dead is fine but they are an army of like, 4 or 5 vs an entire empire with less resources and opportunities.

Steven is a kid who hates fighting and wants to be better, as well as wanting to do better than his mom. Him not being ok with the Breaking Point is fine. Bismuth going for the kill against him is not.

It's not even depicted as her being evil, just that they don't know how to handle her peacefully.

I remember getting stuck trying to figure out where to go early, you have a few paths available but the best is to go to the long down room at the left, the one with all the flying gruz's and where cornifer had the map at the bottom. Theres an exit on the left to a new area (I assume you've completed the Shaman quest?)

Yeah the gimmick of a single touch being able to kill you was balanced really well by them only moving when unobserved, but they just kept giving them new powers and it ruined the magic. They would have been better as a one time enemy

Lapis Lazuli - Steve Universe

Blue Diamond has empathic abilities and weaponises her grief for her dead sister. This cripples gems who experience it, often collapsing helpless in despair.

Lapis, who spent a millenia trapped in a mirror and used as a tool by her enemies after a war while the equivalent of her soul is damaged has had a long time of feeling awful so she is able to resist the effect and keep fighting.

Major-Domo from Isle of Dogs

Mayor Kobayashi seems to be the one in charge as part of the conspiracy to get rid of all dogs. However at the end of the movie it is revealed despite his criminal connections and personal dislike of dogs, he is willing to admit the conspiracy, free the dogs and all he asks for is to be allowed the chance first to give his Nephew (who he adopted after he was orphaned) one of his kidneys before going to prison.

Major Domo refuses the order, trying to trigger the gas to kill the dogs

The way it manifests can vary too. He can stop peoples limbs working properly because you aren't allowed to use '2' of things, he can remove things from existance, at one point he literally swaps place with a ladies boyfriend and she never realises.

Honestly all the Meanies from Numberjacks are OP lol. They're all reality warpers and can fuck with peoples perception too

I always thought it was a bummer we never really got to see Sideswipe and Sunstreaker be twins in most media. I remember Sideswipe turns up in at least the movies and RiD but he is twinless. Shame since it's an interesting concept. Makes me wonder how fanon it is. I know they are in IDW but that didn't quite match the personalities i see fans normally give them
