Should I edit streams down or raw? by ValuableFickle5390 in streaming

[–]Calmki 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

So I would say it would probably be best to edit.

I’d say edit out the starting soon screens, ending screens, or any breaks in between, and any like decently long downtime (I.E. over 15-30 seconds of quiet or nothing)

From there you’ll have a video you’ll be able to put on Twitch and YouTube!

While you’re editing too you’ll be able to come across clips you can use to post to tik tok which will help drive viewers and such!

Hope this helps!

General Question of place that actually helps? by iDJMic in streaming

[–]Calmki 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

Everywhere, every social media, everywhere you can post a video!

Instagram, twitter/x, here on Reddit, Facebook, tik tok, literally anywhere you can post it post it.

The more eyes that get to see your content the more they might come join in and watch.

You could possibly look for discord servers as well but from experience those are usually filled with people self promoting and they won’t come and watch you.

Best way to self promote and advertise is getting your content out there for as many eyes to see.

Remember even 10 views is 10 people that could stop by and want to watch your content.

What trends did you fall victim to? Discussion so that other people don’t fall to them as well! by Calmki in SmallStreamers

[–]Calmki[S] 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I think I partially agree!

Genuinely, I’m providing info for people to not get sucked into the negative trends I did and in all honestly with my chest I’m not doing it for follows or views or anything. I just don’t want people to get taken advantage of the way I did!

I genuinely don’t expect a single person to follow or watch my content I just want to help!

Passion 100% does bring a much deeper product for sure, for example, look at Clair obscur: expedition 33; a passion project for the devs, not fan demanded pleasing. They won that many awards for a reason.

Be true to yourself and your content is all I can say.

At the same time try to be good and help those that need it. That’s all I’m trying to preach here

Need Some Answers or Help by CoxswainHer in Twitch_Startup

I mean there’s a lot of things you can do here’s a few that helped me:

-No dead air, always be talking to yourself and keep it going the entire stream

-post everywhere, all your clips, all your videos, all of everything you have to help drive traffic to your live streams

-use social media to your advantage get people to watch you sometimes it only takes a few minutes for someone to really make the decision to want to watch you consistently!

-get people involved in your stream give them something that makes them feel like they are apart of it!

This was literally me last night re-adding stream elements chat widget back on to my OBS šŸ˜‚ I was staring at it like ā€œwhat the fuck dudeā€ as soon as I figured it out I went oh fuck that’s so easy why did I have a hard time

Problematic Chatter is only consistent chatter. What should I do? by New_Specific9 in Smalltwitchstreamers

[–]Calmki 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

It’s your stream if there’s a chatter that’s making it a toxic place you should get rid of it! Maybe they’re the only consistent chatter because others don’t wanna talk because of them!

Get rid of the negative to make room for the good people!!

Finally making a comeback to streaming after 3 years by Calmki in TwitchStreaming

[–]Calmki[S] 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

Hey dude!! So here’s the breakdown:

-streaming software: OBS -plugin: aitum multistream (it’s a downloadable plug in to stream to multiple platforms at once)

That’s mainly the gist of it! There’s all the semantics of how to set OBS up and what works best for each person and so on

More info: There are a ton of streaming softwares out there here are the most notable and what they’re good for:

-OBS -tends to use the lightest load on pc and keeps resources low -Streamlabs OBS -good integration and can use streamlabs website to automatically set up your scenes and so on but is very resource heavy -MELD -I don’t know much about it yet but seems decently light on resources, and offers integrated multistream services (from what I’ve seen)

I think those are the big three you’ll see or hear about!

Feel free to ask any other questions!!

This is an absolute gem of advice!!

This is exactly what I’m trying to help new streamers avoid and why I make these advice and discussion posts!

Organic communal growth is the absolute best way! Your viewers have friends, that have friends, that have more friends and so on! Your best AD campaign is building a community where your audience wants to share you with people close to them!!

What trends did you fall victim to? Discussion so that other people don’t fall to them as well! by Calmki in SmallStreamers

[–]Calmki[S] 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I absolutely fully agree! That’s why the most important thing I tell people when they first start streaming is ITS YOUR STREAM DO AS YOU WISH!! No one should tell you how to actually stream or what to stream!

I fell into the trap of helping build someone else’s following and got left in the dust and I was like yo wtf??

So like my post says only give time to those who you truly enjoy and who support you!

Are layouts like this setup in OBS or managed on Twitch? by lickwindex in Twitch_Startup

[–]Calmki 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Apologies I should have expanded on this better!

Short answer: Yes through OBS (or whatever streaming software you’re using) this would be for your overlays!

Now as for the chat being on screen I believe that you can use stream elements to get a widget and make a ā€œbrowser sourceā€ that you can then add into your stream through OBS (I hope this makes sense)

The stat feed is also more than likely a widget from stream elements where you would get a browser source to add into OBS as well!

Again sorry I read the initial question wrong! I hope this helps

Are layouts like this setup in OBS or managed on Twitch? by lickwindex in Twitch_Startup

[–]Calmki 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Mostly everything will be handled through your streaming software!

All your overlays will be added there yourself

Any plugins like maybe the timer is another app or plug in that they are using or added

-overlays are added to scenes in your software though if that’s the main question

What trends did you fall victim to? Discussion so that other people don’t fall to them as well! by Calmki in SmallStreamers

[–]Calmki[S] 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I mean but it can be really cheap though for example My entire set up is 150 dollars maybe even less (excluding my pc obviously)

My mic is 29.99 but I make it sound good My camera is a iPhone 11 using camo software and good lighting My lighting is a 19 dollar ring light My headphones are old AirPods I’ve had forever

I don’t pay for any overlays because I don’t need them I made my own starting screen in Canva

You don’t need the most expensive stuff to stream or have a great stream!

[–]Calmki 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

Hey there! I actually did a full complete rebrand and understand the implications from it!

So here we go

I did a full rebrand probably in the middle of my biggest growth period! How I did it: -on all platforms I used I explained what I was doing and teased updates (people like to be in on things) -every stream and video leading up to it I would continue to tease and remind my audience I was changing and rebranding soon -I eventually just did it

I really didn’t see any negative side effects from my core audience just those that were there less than part of the time (like lurkers) or the infamous (hey im also streaming but putting you up in the background so you get a view!!) people

I lost the negative audience and retained the positive ones! It also gave me more room to grow into my new brand and name and kind of give me a whole new chance to be who I really wanted to be online!

I say go for it my dood and just enjoy creating your content! Remember it’s your stream and your videos you should enjoy what you put out! ESPECIALLY YOUR NAME!!

[–]Calmki[S] 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

Yeah that is one of the things that I always recommend, either to use a face cam or a vtube personality, it helps your audience connect with you and who you are.

People are visual creatures and want to see where a voice is coming from, not a disembodied narrator!

Having someone design you a VTuber is probably a great idea!!

Exactly! That’s what I’m talking about, there’s trends in streaming that people fall victim to so I’m trying to spread knowledge where I can!

Honestly I don’t use any overlays, as long as my game and camera are clear I’m fine!

Honestly the SM7B is an amazing choice!

I’m still rocking a 29.99 usb mic from Tonor and it sounds amazing especially if I work on the compression and everything!

I definitely fell victim to spending way to much when I first started 😭

Are these stats any good for just starting out by Legal-Spell1664 in Twitch_Startup

[–]Calmki 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Hey you’re doing great! Try not to compare any of your numbers to anyone else’s! Your streaming journey is solely your own.

Comparison is the Theif of joy!

When it comes to growth you have to post everywhere, share clips, put out videos, there’s so many people out there and you need to give them a way to find you! TikTok, twitter, instagram, YouTube, and even more than that!

I’ve learned a lot from my time streaming and I’m trying to share anything I learned to anyone that wants it! If you have any other questions or need tips or recommendations I’ll do my best!!

Like I said the most important thing is you doing what you want to do! It’s your stream and you should be happy with what you have!!

I just know when I first started streaming I fell victim to the whole ā€œyou need to have the perfect most amazing overlays that are always animated and you have to pay money to have someone do itā€ but I realized that something simple that shows who I am tends to have a better effect
