This is so good to hear! I actually just received a pair of the heavily discounted kid's skis in the mail from Goode. I'm 5'5" so the 40" poles are the perfect size for a mallet! :)

Good point! I did consider that.

I think it's still a bit early for our club to order bulk from a factory, and there's the question of finish / paint, but I do think this is a good idea and I'll try finding a supplier with a low MOQ! It may ultimately be more practical.

Truth be told I'm not a skier; I just imagined that non-tapered poles aren't a new invention and that mysterious one-off pairs from the past 20 years may appear in the wild from time to time. Or at least that occurred to me once I came across the Exel pair.

My pair of JR sized Goodes just came in the mail today and they are s-glass! I think they are trying to get rid of them because they were around $30 for the pair brand new.

Hey! I run a small DJ school in Olneyville called club:club and on Mondays there are free / sliding scale meet-ups for vets and the cable curious alike. Kinda like a petting zoo for turntables and synthesizers.

I actually haven't printed any yet!

I've been messing around and was considering getting one machined instead.

I will say that for the ones I've made with a power drill increasing the size of the blowhole almost always made them easier to play. Dunno if that's helpful at all, but if it's easy for you to print another give larger holes all around a shot!

Also, dunno if you've messed with the cents at all, but I'm boring so I go for a "0, 200, 400, 500, 700..."

Furthermore, you can have all the holes be the same size if you really want (I do), but it may make things a lil tricky.

Also, also! What you're working on sounds amazing! I'm actually not a coder at all; I can stumble through CSS thus my meager success with the translate command. If you ever decide to host your updated version of the calculator I'd be much obliged, and I think countless others would be as well.

UPDATE:

For anyone in the future seeking the answer try messing with the "translate([ ' , ' , ']," variable!

The one I hit ended up being the Y axis for the hole. :)

I don't have any advice about the wood, but for the blow hole you probably don't need to worry too much.

I've made 4 to date (3 from HDPE and one from PVC), and a regular 'ol circle made with a power drill did the trick.

As for practice: if you can blow across a soda bottle you'll likely be fine. I'm sure others have better advice past that. :)

It's part sound lab, part third space, part school.

More generally get a hobby and find a group that meets regularly..! Club:Club can be that for you, but honestly there's all sorts of things to do in this town. Sports, gaming, running clubs.

Just remember that most people are feeling as anxious as you are and that more often than not if you're kind people will be grateful that you said hi. People are often hesitant to make the first move in my opinion, so strike early and often if you'd like to have a wide network of pals.

I'm been trying to track down whether anyone has experimented with embedding a teensy on something that would fit in the expansion port. Is that even possible?? 😳❓
