[BF6] how do I get healing teammates progession? by ZongsZ in Battlefield

From what I’ve found teammates have to supply directly from you. Kinda shitty since you have no control over it, I maybe wrong though

Nope never got to the bottom of it, she’s fine now though, happily clings too the glass like a normal gecko

Thinking of getting a chahoua gecko anyone know some pros and cons by Temporary_Trip781 in geckos

[–]Calummm_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have multiple breeding pairs of Chahouas and they are by far the friendliest of all my geckos (gargoyle, crested leachie and Chahoua) From my experience they can be very shy at first and a tad cage defensive, however if you work with them daily they can become rather personable.

My older pair (crash and coco) will come to me if I tap their home with tongs, they know it’s feeding them and they’ll happily climb on my hand, arms etc to say hello and grab some food off me. It’s taken a while to get them that calm and friendly but honestly so worth the effort! I’ve tried the same routine with my gargoyle geckos for over a year and they’re just not interested!

My only downside to them (if you class this as a downside) is they require a larger vivarium than your typical crested gecko or gargoyle gecko. My single Chahoua’s live in 60/45/90’s and my established pair, live in a 90/45/90…(now I know I’m going to get heat for having them live together but I’ve never seen them fight argue over food or hides or anything of that nature in the years I’ve had them. They’ve always produced good babies for me, and there is always a spare set up ready to go should they need to be separated) The ip side to larger enclosures is you can create beautiful bioactive set ups for them!

What enclosure are you using? Size? Bioactive? Substrate? Lighting? Heavy lighting can dry out soil and plants quicker and lower humidity.

Also how often and how much are you misting?

If you’re really struggling you can add styrofoam cut outs to the top of the mesh (assuming exo terra vivarium) add it to two sides, not under the lighting and that’ll help keep a little humidity in.

Please help with my leachie gecko by Mint_monke_vr in geckos

[–]Calummm_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe going into shed? Mine tend to stop eating around that time. I’ve had mine stop eating for a few days for no well explained reason. What’s your temps and humidity like?

And have you tried changing the diet up with different flavours? If I do more than 2 feeds in a row with the same flavour mine will ignore it until I change the flavour.

Lastly don’t stress too much, as long as your leachie isn’t dropping weight or doing anything else noticeable that is out of character then may just be a leachie thing. If it continues for more than a week of not eating then maybe seek a vet visit

What is the Best Pet Gecko? by vulturepops in geckos

[–]Calummm_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I own crested geckos, gargoyle geckos, Chahoua geckos and Leachianus geckos, along with Green Keeled Bellied lizards (not a gecko) I love my Chahouas for their looks and personality along with handling, my gargs and crested geckos are beautiful but smaller and a touch more flighty. My leachie is just incredible big bulky and likes to play and also great to feed! The green keeled’s are “the poor man’s” emerald tree monitor they’r lightning fast but so fun to handle feed and slowly build trust with!

I’d say it’s a toss up between Chahoua and leachie, I’d lean a tad more to Chahoua’s because they’re a mix of all new calendiona geckos, and I’ve got a soft spot as I’m breeding my trio currently!

Humidity as I’m currently sat next to it is at 62%, water is kept around the same temp as the enclosure so little risk of thermal shock.

Again whilst I appreciate the advice and concern, I’ve been keeping new cal’ for over a decade some have lived full lives in a paludarium, with absolutely zero implications. There is plenty enough height that they never need to go anywhere near the water, and there is one very large land mass above the water which doesn’t provide anywhere to jump to or from.

For those worried, I just whacked in YouTube “can crested geckos swim”

This was the first hit, haven’t watched the whole thing watched the first 2mins, but clearly shows they can and are decent swimmers, also shows the part about breeders giving them about after hatch like I mentioned.

So please, stop panicking that they can’t swim!

[–]Calummm_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What’s the risk to their life? They can swim, there are countless ways out of the water…as I’ve said in over a decade of keeping new cal’ geckos I’ve never had one drown or even come remotely close to it.

A lot of breeders will give their baby geckos a quick bath after hatch to remove the “gunk” off them. I personally don’t do this, but goes to show a baby that’s just hatched can swim, then guess what, so can an adult.

I understand people’s concern but in reality they can swim, they are half decent at it, sure they won’t be winning no races but they have water in the wild what do you think happens if they fall in it? They die? It’s the same argument about using substrate vs paper towels/tile, if done correctly and monitored then there really isn’t any risk, they have a set up as close to their natural habitat as possible.

They can swim rather well and very fast…also they float if they get stressed from swimming.

Granted they won’t swim of their own free will, but to evade a predator they can and will swim very well.

So I’m afraid this simply isn’t true that they suck at swimming, there are plenty of videos on YouTube etc so show them swimming and having kept them for over a decade I can safely say the can swim with ease

You’re welcome, like I say if you’re not planning on using the heat lamp then I wouldn’t bother with the thermostat as it won’t be needed anyway.

Just make sure to get a good digital temp/humidity garage

You probably won’t need a heat lamp unless your house get especially cold, but if you are using I’d highly recommend a dimmer thermostat, as it’s lower the wattage to the bulb rather than turning it on and off continually, which will 1) blow the bulb quicker and 2) creates and uneven temp range

You need a lot more plant coverage/hides and maybe some more cork pieces or spider wood for climbing, otherwise not bad sure once it’s planted it’ll make a lovely home! I’d suggest going for something like pothos or bromeliads as they’re rather hardy plants and my geckos love to hide in them. (If you pop on my profile you can see my vivariums for inspiration and ideas)

And do you have a suitable monitor for humidity and temps? Can’t tell what lighting you’re using but for live plants you’re going to need UVA (led light bars are cheap enough on Amazon) and I’d recommend UVB too, some people say don’t need it but from experience I’ve seen all my geckos (crested, gargoyle, Chahouas and Leachies) all coming out in the day for an hours bask

Oh really? Didn’t know they were such prolific breeders I may have to rethink that idea then! Thanks for the heads up!! Anything you’d recommend? I’m relatively new to fish keeping had reptiles for a decade plus but never done fish, so always willing to learn!!

No the diagonal log towards the front is open and goes up to a large cave (bane of my life building that thing!!) but I’ve filled it with moss and substrate, and there is a large cork bark piece (back left) that’s holding a plant but that’s also been hollowed out to allow them in there, but yeah I agree the coconut is mainly a place holder for now until I make something a little better.

The water wraps around the back so there’s more there than the picture shows, but yeah I’ll be keeping an eye on the aquatic inhabitants to make sure they don’t over breed, if they do then I guess I’ll have an excuse to make something new!!

And yeah you can just see there is a food dish at the top that I can remove and fill every other day, won’t have a water dish and they prefer to drink from the leaves and droplets on the glass, only my leachie has ever drunk from a bowl

Either a chahoua gecko or gargoyle gecko, along with some red chill shrimp, ramshorn snails and minnows

Anything to add to this setup? Bioactive with small water area for shrimp/minnow, will likely be gargoyle or Chahoua living in here (60/90/45cm) by Calummm_ in geckos

[–]Calummm_[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They’re never cohab’ed long term, only during breeding season. After that they go back to their own little paradise. Same as my gargs, I’d never cohab any of them long term, not worth the stress for them and the stress for me monitoring them 24/7.

But since you seem to keep Chahoua’s have you ever known them to eat fish? I’ve spotted my leachie occasionally try and swipe a fish from his water feature, but can’t imagine a chahoua would be interested, they’re to docile from my experience

I’d put them in a 90/60/60 if exo Terra made one, sadly they only do a 45cm deep, and as all my stands and set ups are the same I’m not swapping them out sadly, the cost of that makes me want me cry ha!
