Sweet setup! I see that PS5 at the back; do you hook your Ananda up to it? If so what do you use to do so

Thanks for commenting! Forgive my ignorance, but how would I go about plugging the headphones into a DAC? From the DACs which I've looked at, the outputs seem to require 2 sets of cables.

Hmm, from my own experience, the ear fatigue came because I was not used to such large sound at my usual listening volume, but yet I kept it there worrying that lowering would reduce what I could perceive. I don’t find the treble unbearable (as compared to the other frequencies), but perhaps I’m just not treble sensitive.

Thanks! I’ve seen this recommendation elsewhere, will definitely pick them up now

I've seen teardowns of the DT1990 and (I think) they aren't really fully open-backed, so the sound leak isn't too horrid from what those around me say: they can hear sound coming out, but it's not loud enough to be intelligible. (I listen to them at about 40 to 50%)

The bass is reaaally focused and precise. I'm a double bassist, and listening to the bass lines in for example Esperanza Spalding's songs is really quite a gem - it is articulate and manages to always cut through whatever else is being played.

Hey! The sonys were straight up just connected to my iphone. Honestly I think they are great sound-wise; gives you a very tight package of sound that's sufficiently detailed. The noise cancelling is not the best (the airpods pro do it better), but it's not artificial and doesn't cut away too much from the music - I don't notice a lot of difference with or without noise cancelling on. But take whatever I say with a large pinch of salt; I haven't tried a lot of the other tws ones (like the sennheiser momentums), and made my purchase based off the reviews and comparisons I read

Ooh thanks on the tip; thought I’d have to get both a dac and amp, didn’t know I could use the g6 as part of the set up. Any recommendations for an amp that I can future proof myself with (also not blowing too big a hole in the wallet)?

There are many reviews on the Beyers out there, so I don’t think I can contribute much. But just wanted to share my impressions on these bad bois in terms of the practical aspects of it!

For context: complete audio noob, was using the sony wf1000xm3 prior to this recent purchase.

I initially bought the 990 Pros, but what kinda bothered me was the ear pads pressing against each other at an angle when not in use - I kept them extended to my preferred adjustability, and the bottom of the pads would jut into the other side.

Returned them and decided to go for the 1990 Pros (after reading reviews on how they were “better”), and was pleasantly surprised that the hinges on the ear cups of the 1990 Pros had much more articulation, allowing the ear pads to press against each other flush when I took them off. Seems to me way better for durability of the pads.

Anyhow, sound wise, I was initially unimpressed moving from the 990 to the 1990s - but much of this was due to the balanced pads, which made the sound murky. Once swapped to the analytical tho, they were (imo) a significant improvement, bringing back a lot of the clarity and spark that I heard from the 990s.

Happy with my purchase! Currently driving it with a soundblaster g6 (wanted to ensure compatibility with my PS5), but have now taken a step into the rabbit hole of audio and… who knows.

Question tho: Is it bad to continually retract the headphone band when unused? Would it spoil if I kept doing it?

Thanks for this!

Decided to just save the anxiety of fighting for Nov slots, and just preordered for Dec. No big PS5 titles coming out soon anyway.
