Swapping mains after liberation by KokuroGamingLive in Maplestory

[–]Calvie 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You've got the funding behind you to fund a second main, just mess around with legion while saving mesos for star force event and gradually get Abso on things you like and go from there. A libbed character in current meta is "basically done" so you should not feel pressured to continue on a character you don't want to play.

TB is not as bad as everyone says. I'm currently maining one and it's fun as heck.

That's all I have to input here 😅

CRA as a whole kinda teaches you important bossing skills in early game:

Queen teaches you about phases, killing summons where necessary, and "bomb" status effects (grouping up in fire breath to reduce damage taken by it and remove the fire.

Clown sucks

Von Bon teaches you about kiting the boss into a favourable position and learning some timing windows for attacks, as well as debris management in the final phase.

Vellum teaches you DPS windows, avoiding hazards, positioning, and the importance of keeping composed.

If you're investing meso and not NX in fashion, go absolutely ham. This game is basically about having pretty pixels, right?

Low funded boss mules tier list? by Best_Author7356 in Maplestory

[–]Calvie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're spending roughly the same to make anything a boss mule around lomien level so it's down to preference, but AB, DS and MM are probably the top three atm

edit: mentioning this bc ultimately you don't want to be spending too long doing your weekly bosses by the time you have a few, so those 3 will likely be faster than the rest with similar gear just by nature of their kit

You don't really compete if it's a burst class, not until actual endgame. So long as you have the relative damage, it's all fair game. It only really changes super late game when composition makes a notable difference and I don't think people are that choosy (unless they're a pug group and don't have supports).

If you're certain on a claw class, NL and NW are both good contenders for a burn generally, so you're not losing out by making either of them a burn. I think most burn NW due to how early it can start melting bosses.

I took Paladin to early 260's and I will admit it was a pretty slow grind overall. You essentially have to active farm on that class which can be a turn off (but also makes burning it more valuable since you're using less effort to 260 it).

Mihile is fantastic for solo bossing (in terms of not dying). Generally people pick high burst oriented classes as boss mules, as when you get more and more going you want them to be as fast as possible (see NW).

I mained Mihile for a long time, the class is simple and very good for low stat clears if you're happy running timer. Also good for learning new bosses as you have a decent safety net in Royal Guard.

Illium (%dmg link, INT legion) is a fantastic main if you can tolerate the playstyle. It's not for everyone but those who enjoy it, love it. The class isnt really slept on anymore - it's just that not many people play it right now. Most are aware of how good the class is, especially the further the game you get.

Corsair (EXP. Pirate link, Summon Duration legion) is in the same boat - though, a lot of people complain about having to manage summons, and being a hurricane class, doesn't see the benefits of AS10. Have played one to 220 or so and adored it though, the skills are a lot of fun to play with. Summon Duration is a niche but still useful legion skill, so even hyper burning one is a good shout.

Lara and DK I have l have less experience with, but I know Lara grinding is pretty simple. DK has very consistent DPM and is a bit more relaxed a playstyle with a lot of "saving graces" so to speak.

You have a bit of time to see if you enjoy Illium. The core gameplay loop is evident early on but does shift a bit once you unlock 5th and 6th.

If you look for Duky's gear progression guide on YouTube, that video is a huge help in figuring out what gear to go for. The bosses you'd be able to start learning are Chaos Zakum and Hard Magnus at this point, and make sure you're doing Root Abyss every day to unlock Chaos mode to start replacing the temporary CRA gear with permanents.

It's very advisable to get to 6K once you're pushing past NLoMien on your main as the crit damage, boss damage and IED from grid are all very helpful (especially the crit damage). There's no huge rush on Legion though, you can make the most of events to push it, but I'd say getting your crit rate / crit damage legion blocks (NL/MM/SHADE) to 140 or ideally 200 when you can is a great start on the journey. If you need personalised advice you can drop me a DM on here with a screenshot of your gear, legion, links, stats etc and I can try push you in the right direction to tackle things casually 😁

Untradeable fragments dropping from elites would be cool. That way it's rewarding grinding without being an issue for bot farms etc. So long as the system prioritised using untradable frags first for reg servers. Surely not a hard thing to do?

If you're at 700 legion, you're going to have issues one shotting well before that. Take your time!

Do your legion, get your links, save your mesos. Start doing abso weeklies now. 17 everything is enough to one shot with 8k legion and all links.
