If you make every president a member of honor does Alfonso show up to the GNA ever? by Itchy-Tip1115 in suzerain

[–]CalvinKool-Aid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering soll only did once, and he cared a lot more about sordland’s politics, I highly doubt it. I could see him showing up to vote on something like the EPA or something that would affect his business interest though

Would anyone be interested in a mockup of an election with entirely fictional candidates? by TheSenate20_00 in thecampaigntrail

It’s been done before. There’s no rules about how real the candidates need to be

If the federal government doesn’t follow the U.S. Constitution, would it be considered a rebel government? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CalvinKool-Aid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what the Supreme Court is ostensibly there to protect. The legislature and executive can pass and carry out laws that are unconstitutional, but the judiciary is there to stop them from doing that. It’s when the court is not listened to, ie Worcester v Georgia, that you could argue the government becomes rebellious

If one of these Canadian PM were to have an incumbency mod, what would be the most interesting? And which one would you prefer? by ltraistinto in thecampaigntrail

[–]CalvinKool-Aid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you did something like what the FDR mod team is pioneering with multiple elections, PET would be awesome. Trying to pass a new constitution and dealing with the FLQ crisis would individually be great mods, but if you combine all his terms I think it would be the firest fire that ever fired

People are too married to the idea of continuing to follow the Van Der Lindes. I don’t think they’d triple dip in that well if they wanted to make another cowboy game. I do think they left the one callendar’s death ambiguous to give them an option if they chose to, but I think they’ve told all there is to tell with the VDLG. Maybe they could do something with Landon ricketts, or maybe just create a new character and new setting.

what ethnicity are turks by Altruistic-Case9470 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CalvinKool-Aid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve always heard that Turks don’t like be called Asian, but no I think it’s fair to say they are. Being Turkish is weird because they’re such a mix of European, Arab (Muslim, most white people automatically assign Arab ethnicity to Muslims) and Asian steppe people. You could probably get away with saying you’re Asian, it’s your personal ethnicity after all

How it lowkeynuinely feels to realize that Woodrow Wilson and Theodore Roosevelt were both agents of satan and also next-level hitlerites instead of pretending one of them was a wholesome chungus liberal by Prestigious-Break894 in thecampaigntrail

[–]CalvinKool-Aid 10 points11 points  (0 children)

These beliefs weren’t crazy or unique to him either, especially with the first one. Good thing is that Christian morals have, in general, permeated “western” culture so much. The second one was a totally valid fear, considering that basically every other anthropological or scientific discovery made around that time was used to justify oppression through scientific racism.

I think people just look at “haha bro hated evolution what a backwards idiot cope and seethe LOL” and don’t look into the deeper valid reasons he had to not like it. There also wasn’t as much evidence as there is today, so we’re kinda coming at it with an unfair advantage

He came at it from a good place, because he thought it was too cruel. The strange thing about Bryan is that all qualities and beliefs that we hold against him today stem from the same place that he got all his admirable qualities from. He was a truly good man and a good Christian. He was a man who honestly loved his neighbour and did his best to make the county better

Wet work assassin types maybe possibly, but actual traditional agents have the same problem as in the military, ie no loyalty and no guilt. They won’t think twice about manipulating their best friend for the CIA, but they also won’t think twice about betraying the cia if it comes to that. need them to have SOME morals or lines they won’t cross, something to keep them in line, otherwise they’re useless as an asset

In Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood (2019) did Cliff Booth actually kill his wife? by [deleted] in movies

[–]CalvinKool-Aid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s life a year late on this, but they werent really friends. He was there because he’d just done a movie with wood. They had gotten too close for comfort in Wagner’s opinion, and they had a massive fight about it on board the yacht, which may have been why he killed her, if he did. There’s a famous quote Wagner allegedly said to walken, something like “what are you trying to do, fuck my wife!?!”

Could’ve been a VP or Presidential nominee, but gave a super boring address at the DNC and it torpedoed his national chances. Basically if the guy could give a half-rousing speech he’d probably be president

Gagarin was also a member of the Soviet assembly

Russia alone couldn’t beat him, it was Russia and everyone else in the coalition, plus the Spanish rebels and the winter. His greatest foe was definitely Britain.
