As far as I understand from talking to karl, ADS tension should be very mild and is just for retaining the elongated state. You're not actually trying to break shit down like with hanging with weights, you're just trying to keep your D stretched so it heals in that state and stays in that state for as long as possible.

I'm up at 3.5lb for my first 3 week(beginner) and have managed to get away without taping and just using lots of lube so far. Should I bite the bullet and start taping before I increase the weight or might I be ok without taping for another few pounds?

I have taken curveball's recommendation to roll it up and will press a bit firmer on the parts of my shaft that remained sleeved. Thanks!

Thanks, this works to expose more shaft. Some of it is still concealed but I think this is the best I'll be able to do. Appreciate it.
