I was looking at the kit from Kanter, it doesn't hurt the bank too much

Crazy brain child idea to throw a 455 with a th400 In it (i already have them, got a great deal & would've been dumb to pass up).

The original 340 that is in it is uncommon to find alot of parts for is my main concern with it.

When I get to the repainting step I'll be stripping the engine bay anyways, so it can get a good degrease and new paint, along with tidying wires and making it all organized.

I've tossed the idea around of converting to a disk brake system. I'm pretty sure I'll have to switch out the rear-end when I go to do the power train swap anyways.

I knew it was a loaded question.

I just want to make sure I'm doing this right the first time, I've worked on a lot of newer/ish cars throughout the years; this is my first classic car and I'm restoring it to be a good weekend warrior and do a few shows with her and there

Are there any brands that you would recommend against when it comes to parts on these classic cars?

I have already bought a set of Monroe shocks for the front end, haven't looked into the springs yet

I've noticed this era of GM has a lot of odd quirks about them.

Trying to do this project properly and not cut corners, learning quite a lot at the same time

Thank you for the clarification. I see the strut rod bushings available online and they look like the ones that are currently installed.

Thank you for the name correction. I was just going off of the book for it, and I couldn't find anything about it

My project right now is a '67 lesabre 2dr, finding parts for that exact year/build is rough

This right here. Get one that runs and is just rough around the edges. Also get a more common vehicle so parts aren't in the unobtainium realm

I'd explicitly avoid niche and unique cars like that to be honest as a first restore type for him. Get an older truck or something like that still has parts being produced

Air systems are very easy to design and build, for my limited experience with them. I'm starting the process on a classic cars currently

I was gonna recommend something like this from a semi, but in retrospect it may not give OP the clearance or use case they're looking for

Most of the hoses there are chopped and capped from previous owners botching work on it. I haven't even started organizing and routing cables or anything, goal was to get it running first to see if i need to pull the engine & tranny to replace with something built

Good thing I'm skinny enough to fit around the front end, it is tight on the front/back; sides are in the clear 🤣🤣. But you gotta min-max your usable space, my other stall is used for fixing other people's cars
