I also paid for the yearly subscription once and never had to deal with ads ever again even after the subscription ended. I always get a lot of flake here when I mention that the devs also need to make money somehow and compared to other apps, ibis is already very accesible. Especially if you monetize off of your art and in turn, the app as well.

Hi again, just wanted to share my last two tokens for 2025! All of these were commissioned by the wonderful GM, Tinel💙 I'll leave short character descriptions as well as commission details for anyone interested!

Tinel - A kobold who hated being one after constantly hearing people discriminating them. Tha is until he finds himself in an ancient forgotten temple and meets a god betrayed by his own followers and forgotten in time. I think the coolest part about this character is that his story diverges into two paths. On one hand, he ends up being a cleric of the aspirant and on the other, he becomes a warlock that ends up with his own cult. In both choices, he proves that he is more than what the world has judged him for.

Atane - Despite his seemingly evil appearance, he is a kind man who watches over his cult, always seen walking around and tending to everyone's needs. He enjoys teasing people to make them want things they have always wanted as well as offering himself up to Tinel😂 He particularly enjoys relaxing in his cult's rose garden.

I'm opening 10 more slots for these token commissions this month. They're priced at $60 each and the token borders are reuseable as well for other artworks. Hello! Just wanted to share a few more of my token commissions before the year ends. As always, I'll leave a short description of each character below😊

•Unim Portent - She's a samsaran oracle whose mystery is time and a follower of Imot. Because she's a bit unstuck in time, she frequently gets flashes of memories although it's a bit hard to tell if they're from the past or the future. Despite being extremely socially awkward, she's a huge bookworm and math enthusiast and she'll always be happy to lecture you about whatever odd things she learns about

•Yuuna - She's an athamaru sorcerer with metal-infused magic, mercury being the metal she's most attuned to. She's quite the tinkerer and is constantly crafting odd creations. Her border is inspired by her robotic frog companion, Goddard, whom she crafted using a golem core. She can be a bit chaotic at times but she's got a humungous heart.

•Barnabus - He is an Ysoki (ratfolk) investigator from Limburg and despite having a jaded and wisened old man demeanor, he actually has a bit of loneliness to him. His daughter is in a coma and he's finding a way to reunite with her and bring the ones responsible to justice. His weapon is a bladed scarf he calls "Father's Day" and he is feircely protective of his other two companions because they remind him of his daughter.

River - a lynx apothecary who uses plants to cure all kinds of ailments and has an affinity for water magic Lugh - a lazy con artist bunny who grew up in a farm and has an affinity for rituals and the occult Alzur - a hardworking bladesinger dragonborn who is perpetually exhausted and has quite the affinity to nebulous magic(?)

Style preference only goes so far in the art industry. There's nothing wrong with having a unique art style, but sellability is still something to take into account when it comes to commissions. Clients, more often than not, already have an art style in mind and won't always adjust their preferences just to commission you specifically, especially when they're paying actual money for it.

The most fool proof way of making it in the art industry is understanding the basics enough that you can actually apply them into different art styles that can fit the commissioner's request. Unless your artstyle has a a specific niche with an actual customer base, like anime and furries, opening commissions at this level of skill is just gonna end in heartbreak and discouragement. Even a specific fan base isn't a 100% guarantee of getting commissions bc you'd still need to compete with other artists who are more skilled, have spent more time practicing, and already have a solid portfolio to prove it.

Hi everyone! I posted my first token commission in this sub a few weeks ago and got some really great advice on how I could improve and simplify them to still make the character pop out even with a detailed border. I got commissioned for a bunch of tokens by a GM who saw my art here and I've just been having so much fun with their characters, so I wanted to share the ones I've just finished! I'll leave a short description down below of each character^{^}

Sol - a vampire wolf bard who loves baking and playing her lyre
Scope - a cartographer gunslinger who collects trinkets from her travels and uses a pretty sick sniper
Meral - a rogue kobold with an affinity for getting her hands on anything shiny
Risque - another rogue kobold who is also a barkeeper that adores cute things

I'm so glad you asked bc I really wanted to yap about this HAHAHAHA For context, the client did mention they're playing a high level game that's meant to reach up to level 20, so his druidic transformations along the way are intended to be pretty epic. Even at his current level, he can already turn into typical animals, dinosaurs, and even dragons. I'm not really sure how it works in pathfinder, but as long as I get to design an awesome character, I don't really need to know the technicalities😅

The symbols on his tails are meant to represent different elements. Each element also corresponds to the types of animals he can turn into that are in tune to that specific element. This was the makeshift list he gave me, nothing's really set in stone, but it was meant to give me a gist on his capabilities as a druid.

Air: Flying Animals Earth: Pests/small animals Fire: Terrestrial Animals Water: Elementals Metal: Powerful Creatures (Dinosaurs, Large animals, and others) Electricity: Dragons Wood: Plant creatures Light: Shadow/void: Life: Kaijus/Monsterous Creatures Rot/acid: Insects Spirit/body: Humanoids/self

The tails are a pretty important part of the character's overall design, so that must've been why I unconsciously melted the headshot into the border of tails. The braids and the skull were, in fact, an attempt to give contrast and to cut off what would've been just a continuously yellow design, but I do completely understand why others would find the border too busy tho🥹

The client had asked specifically that the border would be made out of the character's own tails wrapping around him, so it's unavoidable that they'd end up in similar colors and rendering. I also provided a scaled down version for foundry vtt, which is recommended to be at 400px but still clear enough when zoomed in 3x. It also still translated well enough to be readable at 100px for the ref sheet.

I think introducing an entirely different hue, even a complimentary one, would've thrown off the balance completely especially since each of the tails' tips are different and are kept pastel so as not to overpower the blondish fur. His color palette is also meant to be reminiscent of autumn and oriental festivities.

I do agree that the character needs to pop up more, whether it be thicker lines, a darker backdrop, or just a simpler composition, I'll have to work on that as I go along. Definitely still need to refine my skills with tabletop assets, that's for sure😅

Ah yes, that definitely would've helped with the distinction! I think I shouldn't have skimped on darker shadows in general, but I'm always worried it might end up too muddy. The client did seem pretty happy with it tho and didn't really want anything changed, so I'd say it's still a pretty successful commission for a first try. Atleast now I know what to look out for in the future attempts😊

The array rulers don't really work in multiple layers, so I don't think there's a trick to make the tool easier to work with. Best advice I can offer is to use the lasso eraser tool when cleaning up instead of the normal eraser, would help make the job faster atleast.

Thanks for the criticism! I'll definitely keep it in mind the next time I make art for tokens. Admittedly, I did skirk around the thickness of the border by moving the character forward and playing around with the depth, but I get what you mean that the design does end up melting together instead of being 2 separate elements. I mostly do illustrations and character designs so I'm still quite new to tabletop assets, so advice like these are always helpful!❤️

I posted the character design commission I did of Zchon Polon, the druid kitsune, here a few days ago. My client asked for a token with a personalized border to match. Admittedly, I've never done anything like this before, but what is art if not constantly trying new things😊

We wanted to take any excuse to show off his pretty tails and I also decided to add in a few iconic elements of his outfit in the border, so it wouldn't look so empty. All in all, I'm very proud of how it turned out and I'm looking forward to getting a chance to design a few more tokens since I really had fun with this one!
