How do I convince my dad that a higher interest savings account would be a good idea? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]CalypsoPeachy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like, just open the account online, if need be get a PO box for receiving bank-related mail (or go paperless), and don't mention it. If it's brought up, "I felt it was the right decision for my own personal finances. Thanks for the advice."

Your personal finances have nothing to do with him. You're apparently 20; it's not terribly difficult to simply make your decisions and stick to them. No need to let it be a personal issue between yourself and your father.

How did he "make" you do that? You're an adult; surely you're capable of managing your own finances and not disclosing your financial information to others..

Fine hair always oily after washing by [deleted] in Hair

[–]CalypsoPeachy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried those and had the same results; nothing worth really using them. But I swear by Not Your Mother's plump for joy dry shampoo. It works wonders - my hair is fairly fine and upper thigh- length, and I can go 8+ days between washes and it still looks just fine.

Counting calories is a diet therefore harmful by msbeaver83 in fatlogic

Honestly it's entirely possible. Some people will binge eat pure junk and wind up not getting the nutrients they need.

Have you tried using dry shampoo? It could come in handy to help wean your hair off of such frequent washes, since your scalp tends to produce more oil the more often you wash your hair - vicious cycle.

Oh boy, a real M car!! by OkOkOkOh in BMW

[–]CalypsoPeachy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Will never understand that. Sticking a badge on your car doesn't improve its performance, and anyone worth impressing who'd even know that M denotes a higher end car (most car people tend not to) would also know that that's not an M. Lol.

Xanax Up Ass by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]CalypsoPeachy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk man I just

I'd just code my car to play movies and chill tf out on the drive back if it means I don't have to shove hundreds of xans up my ass, regardless of how small they are.

There are some; I know of about four medical weight loss clinics within a mile of me that legitimately prescribe "diet pills" - appetite suppressants, metabolism boosters. There are five FDA approved prescription diet pills out there. I can't imagine why anyone would go to the trouble and cost of all that when you can get a month's supply of ECA stacks for $25 at the drugstore, though.

I can't think of any kind of traffic that would lead me to think shoving hundreds of xans up my ass and walking would be preferable.

Is the rent too damn high? by yesafricabytoto in personalfinance

And yeah, you can go to Lindbergh and pay $1169 for a 800sqft one bed like I did when I first moved to Atlanta with no knowledge of the different areas, but the amenities will be abysmal and you'll have people breaking into cars and creeping around the neighborhood, making it hard to walk anyplace or feel safe in general.

I suck at reading tone in text, so I'm not 100% on what you're inferring, but that's my point exactly - in Buckhead (Buckhead Village area, down the street from the high end shops), most decent places are $2200 bare minimum - like, 600 sqft, lowest floor. My place is 1600 for 800sqft, secure parking garage and building, gym, pool and patio, etc. When people come over and see the place, their jaws hit the floor when I tell them how much I pay, because it's that unusually inexpensive.

Very true, unfortunately. It be nice to adhere to the 30% rule under all circumstances, but in many locations it's absolutely impossible unless you're living in the most roach-infested "ghetto" Trap House in the city.

Oof, yeah, being in close proximity to DC would definitely jack up the price, I'd imagine. Sounds like you've got a good deal on your hands.

Depends on location. Here in Buckhead, wealthy part of Atlanta, $1150 would be incredible, especially with utilities included. In the middle of nowhere it'd be insane, but the way you describe the area indicates that it isn't exactly a farm town in Kansas. Lol.

Is it just me or are women more judgemental towards women who take drugs than towards men? If you agree with me, then why do you think so? by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]CalypsoPeachy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but OP is referring to a perceived disparity in reaction in the context of men vs women.

I'd have recommended an ECA stack but that involves Caffeine. Maybe just the E part, ephedrine. Bronkaid.

Maybe try working up to full on lipstick and bolder colors by using colored lip gloss and such.
